SUBJECT: ACCEPT A GIFT FROM THE ARCADIA PUBLIC LIBRARY
FOUNDATION FOR SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND SERVICES IN THE
AMOUNT OF $19,500
Recommendation: Accept
SUMMARY
The Arcadia Public Library Foundation (the "Foundation "), as part of its ongoing mission
to support the Library's goals and objectives, is donating $19,500 to the Library for
special programs and services.
DISCUSSION
All gifts to the Library over $1,000 are subject to approval by the City Council pursuant
to City Charter Section 809(d). The funds being donated will be used for the following
purposes:
• Kaleidoscope Music Concert Series: This series of four concerts will feature
world -class musicians. The series coordinator, Paul Stein, is a violinist with the
Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. The free concerts will be followed by a
reception with the musicians.
• Live Online Homework Tutoring: This service is available for students to access
live, interactive homework assistance through the Library or from a remote
computer using their library card. The Arcadia Unified School District shares the
cost for this service.
FISCAL IMPACT
Receipt of these funds will provide $19,500 for special programs and services for the
Library.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council accept a gift from the Arcadia Public Library
Foundation for special programs and services in the amount of $19,500.
