FOR THE MISCELLANEOUS SEWER MAIN REPAIR PROJECT AS COMPLETE AND AUTHORIZE THE FINAL PAYMENT TO BE MADE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS. Recommendation: Approve SUMMARY On April 7, 2015, the City Council approved a contract with Vasilj, Inc. in the amount of $44,860 for the miscellaneous sewer main repair project. The terms and conditions of this project have been complied with and the work has been performed to the satisfaction of the Project Manager for a total project cost of $47,110. This amount reflects the original contract amount of $44,860 plus contract change orders totaling $2,250, or 5% of the original contract amount. It is recommended that the City Council accept all work performed by Vasilj, Inc. for the miscellaneous sewer main repair project as complete and authorize the final payment to be made in accordance with the contract documents, subject to the retention of $2,355.50. DISCUSSION On April 7, 2015, the City Council approved a contract with Vasilj, Inc. for the miscellaneous sewer main repair project. The work performed included repairing damaged sewer pipe segments on Fairview Avenue and Arcadia Avenue. In addition, four deteriorated manholes were repaired. During the course of work it was discovered that that one section of damaged sewer pipe extended seven lineal feet from what was identified on the plans. The unforeseen conditions required additional work and added to the scope of the project. It was also determined that 376 square feet of cross gutter replacement was not necessary and resulted in a cost savings. Vasilj, Inc. completed the work as defined in the project plans and specifications in an efficient and timely manner. FISCAL IMPACT Funds in the amount of $50,000 have been budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2014 -15 Capital Improvement Program for the Miscellaneous Sewer Main Repair Project. The total cost for this project, including one change order, is $47,110. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council accept all work performed by Vasilj, Inc. for the Miscellaneous Sewer Main Repair Project as complete and authorize the final payment to be made in accordance with the contract documents, subject to the retention of $2,355.50.
