SUMMARY
On September 4, 2012, the City Council approved a purchase order with Daniels Tire
Service for the purchase of tires and tire related services for City vehicles. Daniels Tire
Service is reaching the end of their second extension and has agreed to hold their
prices for an additional year. This will be the third and final contract extension for
Daniels Tire Service. All remaining terms and conditions of the original purchase order
will remain in effect.
It is recommended that the City Council approve a one year extension to the purchase
order with Daniels Tire Service for the purchase of tires and tire related services for City
vehicles in the amount of $86,616.
DISCUSSION
The Public Works Services Department's Fleet Section is responsible for purchasing
and maintaining tires and accessories for all City vehicles. In order to prevent an
interruption in daily operations, the Public Works Services Department maintains a
contract with a vendor who provides tires and tire related services on an as- needed
basis. Tire related services would include things such as the replacement of a flat tire
on a fire engine or heavy duty equipment. Daniels Tire Service carries a wide variety of
tire sizes and brands that the City uses. The City expends approximately $60,000
annually for new tires and tire related services.
