Subject: Arcadia resident in favor of mansionization.
Hi Mr. Chandler, my name is Kathy Swanson, and I currently reside at 657 W. Lemon Ave, Arcadia. I have
been hearing stories that this new zoning change on the March ballot, could potentially cause me to lose quite a
bit of money when I go to sell my home. This home is all I have, as it was left to me by my Grandparents, and
am planning on selling eventually. I am single, so not quite sure where I will be moving yet. I wanted to get
your input on this matter, and do you think I should sell before March in order not to lose money? Can I start a
petition or anything I can do to help stop this from passing? Thanks in advance for any advice you could give. I
work at Valentines Liquor on Baldwin Ave, so I don't make very much money, my house is my only asset , and
it would really hurt my future to take such a loss in the sale of my home.

Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council
City of Arcadia
We are writing this letter in support of the proposed development of the property next door to us at 29 E.
Orange Grove Avenue,Arcadia,CA
We first expressed our support for this project one year ago during hearings with the ARB,Planning
Commission and City Council that resulted in approval for the project. Our support continues.
As we understand it,in order to build a single story residence of the size desired, the City Council will
need to agree to a setback variance to allow the home to be at the same setback as the current residence.
We also support the granting of this variance.
Most of the homes on E.Orange Grove Avenue are at this setback. Only two homes have a deeper
setback. Our home built in the early 1930's is one of those homes. It has a deeper setback because of the
knoll at the rear of the property and the presence of two large oak trees in the front of the property The
second home with a deep setback is the home just to the west of us. The reason for that setback is the
presence of a flood control channel cutting through the middle of their property
There doesn't appear to be a single architectural style of homes on East Orange Grove Avenue. But we
believe that, per Resolution 6770,the proposed design of the single story residence will be"harmonious
and compatible"with the existing homes and will help"protect the property values and architectural
character of the residential environments."
Very truly yours,
hi '
