HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 3a: Voting Delegate and Alternate Delegate for 2010 League of California Cities ConferenceDATE: TO: July 20, 2010 Mayor and City Council Office of the City Manager FROM: Donald Penman, City Manager By: A,Linda Garcia, Communications, Marketing and Special Projects Manager SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF A VOTING DELEGATE AND ALTERNATE DELGATE FOR THE 2010 LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES CONFERENCE Recommendation: Appoint a City of Arcadia Voting Delegate and Alternate Delegate SUMMARY The League of California Cities Annual Conference is scheduled for September 15 -17, 2010 in San Diego. An important part of the conference is the annual business meeting, scheduled for 3:OOpm on Friday, September 17. At this meeting the League membership considers and takes action on resolutions that establish League policy. In order to vote on behalf of the City at the annual business meeting, a City Council must designate, by official action, a Voting Delegate and up to two Alternate Voting Delegates, and provide evidence of such action to the League by August 20, 2010. The Delegate and Alternate Delegate(s) must be registered to attend the conference (either in its entirety or just Friday) and must register with the Credentials Committee at the conference prior to the business meeting. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council appoint a Voting Delegate and an Alternate Delegate for the 2010 League of California Cities Annual Conference.
