STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT WITH
ARCADIA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR TRANSPORTATION FOR
RECREATION ACTIVITIES FROM JULY 1, 2010 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2011.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement
with Arcadia Unified School District to provide transportation for recreation activities from July 1,
2010 through June 30, 2011.
The Recreation and Community Services Department has been using transportation services
provided by the Arcadia Unified School District for the transporting of participants registered in
day camp, sports camp, excursions and intramural sports. On March 22, 2010 requests for bus
transportation service proposals were sent out to seven agencies. The request was also
published on March 29 and April 1, 2010 in the Arcadia Weekly and posted on the bid board and
hotline. Upon conclusion of the April 20 deadline, Arcadia Unified School District was the sole
bid received. As set forth in the terms of the current agreement, the contract may be renewed
for a maximum of three additional years.
The budget for transportation services for the fiscal year 2010 -2011 is $35,000. The proposed
budget is sufficient to cover the transportation costs for the programs, based on the bid provided
by Arcadia Unified School District.
Authorize the City Manager to enter into a contract with Arcadia Unified School District for
transportation services for recreation activities for the period of July 1, 2010 through June 30,
2011, in the amount not to exceed $35,000.
