Currently, the City is using a stage that was donated by the Arcadia Unified School District a number of years ago and needs to be replaced. The Recreation & Community Services Department works closely with the Public Works Services Department year after year to set up and take down the stage for community wide special events. Over the past few years, it has become apparent the condition of the stage is deteriorating and in need of constant repair. Many of the staging pieces are chipped and cracked which is preventing them from fitting together properly. With the amount of use the stage gets over the year, safety is becoming a major concern. Staff has been researching various options for the purchase of a new stage that would work well with the community special events that are operated by the city. The staging system that staff recommends is the Intellistage. This staging system is strong, lightweight, has an internal locking system that allows for easy set -up /tear -down and ensures that all components are securely fastened and safe to use. The recommended staging system also has skirting, stairs and a storage container for when the stage is not in use, it can be stored properly without being damaged. The cost of the recommended staging system is $9,188. This year, the City of Arcadia accepted a Grant for the Concert in the Park series from Target in the amount of $22,000. With the cost saving from the Target Grant, the stage could be purchased with funds that would otherwise be needed for entertainment. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council appropriate Capital Outlay Funds in the amount of $9,188 to purchase a new stage. APPROVED: Donald Penman, City Manager
