HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 3a - Cancellation of the July 4, 2017 City Council Meeting
DATE: June 6, 2017
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Dominic Lazzaretto, City Manager
Prepared By: Lisa Mussenden, Chief Deputy City Clerk/Records Manager
SUBJECT: CANCELLATION OF THE JULY 4, 2017, REGULAR CITY COUNCIL
MEETING
Recommendation: Approve
SUMMARY
Due to the July 4, Independence Day holiday falling on a regular City Council meeting
day, staff recommends that the regular meeting of that date be cancelled.
DISCUSSION
Given the likelihood that City Council Members, staff, residents, and/or business owners
may take advantage of the holiday weekend, staff is recommending that the July 4, City
Council meeting be cancelled. There are currently no time-sensitive items that have
been scheduled for the July 4, meeting. However, if the City Council cancels the
meeting, staff will plan ahead, ensuring there are no delays in a time-sensitive item that
would otherwise be addressed at that meeting. Should a necessity arise, a special
meeting could be conducted to expedite any item which might require immediate City
Council action.
FISCAL IMPACT
There will be very minor savings in printing costs and staff overtime by not conducting
this meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council approve the cancellation of the July 4, 2017,
regular City Council meeting; and direct the City Clerkâs office to post the required
notices.
