SUBJECT: DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,585 FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE
MUSEUM FOR ARTIFACTS, SUPPLIES, AND PROGRAMMING AT THE
GILB MUSEUM OF ARCADIA HERITAGE
Recommended Action: Accept
SUMMARY
The Friends of the Museum (the “Friends”) wish to donate $8,585 to the Gilb Museum of
Arcadia Heritage (“Museum”) for artifacts, archival supplies, and educational
programming for the Museum and Museum Education Center.
DISCUSSION
In accordance with City Administrative Policy, all donations in excess of $1,000 shall be
approved by the City Council. The Friends, as part of its support of the Museum’s
mission to collect, preserve and recognize Arcadia’s heritage, is donating $8,585 for the
following purposes:
Purchase archival preservation supplies such as archival boxes, Mylar
sleeves, and acid free envelopes and folders;
Support educational programming, cultural programming for families, and
school and scout programming;
Purchase supplies and materials for the support of permanent and
temporary exhibits, including mounts and risers; and
Provide funds for the purchase of artifacts, historical documents, and
photographs that recognize and celebrate the City’s rich heritage.

These funds were raised at their fundraising dinner for the Museum’s 15 Anniversary
in October 2016. This donation by the Friends will help the Museum and the City to
provide high quality programming, services, and exhibits for the citizens of Arcadia
beyond the current capacity of the City’s General Fund.
FISCAL IMPACT
Receipt of this donation will provide $8,585 for artifacts, archival supplies, and
educational programming for the Museum and Museum Education Center.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council accept a donation in the amount of $8,585 from
the Friends of the Museum for artifacts, supplies, and programming at the Gilb Museum
of Arcadia Heritage.
