HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 2b - Cancellation of the Januray 2, 2018, City Council Meeting DATE: November 21, 2017 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: Dominic Lazzaretto, City Manager By: Lisa Mussenden, Chief Deputy City Clerk/Records Manager SUBJECT: CANCELLATION OF THE JANUARY 2, 2018, REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Recommendation: Approve SUMMARY Due to a lack of agenda items for the City Council meeting of January 2, 2018, as well as the timing of the holidays, it is recommended that the regular meeting of that date be cancelled. DISCUSSION Traditionally, the City Council has cancelled one meeting per year around the holidays in order to ease schedules when many employees, Council Members, and contractors tend to take significant time off. This year, the Council Meeting that falls closest to, and would be most affected by, the holidays would be the January 2, 2018, City Council Meeting. At this time, only routine matters that are not time sensitive are scheduled for the City Council meeting of January 2, 2018. Therefore, it is proposed that the meeting be cancelled. Should a necessity arise, a special meeting could be conducted to expedite any item which might require immediate City Council action during the dark period. FISCAL IMPACT There will be very minor savings in printing costs and staff overtime by not conducting this meeting. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve the cancellation of the January 2, 2018, regular City Council meeting; and direct the City Clerk’s office to post the required notices.
