The First Baptist Church presents a simple yet striking facade towards Baldwin Ave. The brick facade is dominated by
a curvilinear and symbolic bell tower, indicative of Colonial Revival style. Other Colonial Revival features include the
triangular pediment above the door and the door surround of the main entrance. The cornice return around the front
facade is also notable,as a Colonial influence. There is a subordinate entrance to the right of the main doors. Except
for the small multi -pane windows , the north elevation is unadorned. On the south side of the building is an additional
,1r cture creating n I I-chnnari plan. In this courtvard is a grass lawn.

This is a very good example of the Folk Victorian style in fair condition. It is a simple square plan, with a front
gabled roof and exposed roof beams. Wood siding sheathes a wood frame structure. The recessed porch and bay window
characterize the structure of the Folk Victorian style. The fish scale shingles in the gable, the wood dart trim over the
windows, and the spindiework and laced spandrels, and decorative braces under the eaves characterize the details of the
Folk Victorian spandrels. The property is entirely landscaped and set back from the street.

This one story Craftsman style chapel was originally a private residence owned by a relative of Andrew Mellon, Secretary of the
United States Treasury in the 1920s. The roof is front gabled, characterized by widely overhanging eaves underscored by false,
rounded, exposed roof beams and rafters. A shed roof extends over the entrance. On the south wall is a window
projection capped with a shed awning. There is a gabled diamond sash window on the facade. There is a full -height picture window
on the facade, a Contemporary style influence. The walls are sheathed with a combination of clapboard siding and vertical board
and batten siding. There appear to have been significant alterations to the building. Old photos of the property show a large stone
chimney on the north wall that has been removed and replaced with a window. The entire unit is landscaped and laid out on a corner
lot.

A small one story Spanish Eclectic residence, almost identical to 440 Walnut. Spanish Eclectic features include the round red tile
roof, the rounded windows, and stucco walls. This house is cross gabled and H-shaped in plan. The two separate gables partially
enclose a front courtyard that has a concrete wall. The window in the middle of the side gable is a palladian window with multiple
square panels. The center elevation, behind the inner courtyard has a small covered porch that spans the length of the wall. The
focal window on the right has a round top. The three windows on the west elevation are covered by ruffled awnings. The significant
difference between this house and 440 Walnut is the shed gabled addition on the southwest comer of the structure. There are two
large palm trees in the front yard and there is a tsmall eridused lawn and garden. The fence surrounding the house is a decorated
metal material supported by concrete piers.

This grandiose two story Neoclassical Revival residence stands out among the more modest homes found in the area.
Neoclassical features include the facade, which is occupied by a colonnaded, full width and height porch. The dominant
porch is supported by six simple square columns. Also Neoclassical is the symmetrical design of the facade which is
centered by an accentuated front door crowned with a wood shelf surrounded by nine double hung windows protected by
wood shutters. The wall cladding is wood panel on the facade, brick on the sides, and stucco on the back elevation. There is
also a smaller second porch along back wall and an attached garage, probably a later addition.

A multilevel Spanish Eclectic residence. Architectural features which denote Spanish Eclectic are the low pitched multilevel roof with
taller, side gabled sections bounded by lower, side -gabled wings and the highly textured stuccoed walls. Also notable are the interior
chimney, the circular window to the right of the chimney and the round tower in the center of the structure. Many of the windows are
covered by awnings. On the north side of the front gable is a porch covered by an extended roof which covers the length of the north
wall. The original part of the house most likely consisted of the front gable, tower and main side gable section. Later, the north and
south wings were added to provide a two car garage and separate living quarters. The design of the T shaped entrance in between
the main side gable and the garage are indicative of a more recent addition.

A two story rectangular plan structure. This is a Spanish Eclectic style home. The round red tile roof and the white stucco walls are
indications of Spanish Eclectic styles. The facade was once a stone surface, but has been stuccoed over. The roof is cross gabled
and there is a balcony at the intersection of the gables. The balcony is partially covered by the main roof and is cantilevered over the
entry porch. Supporting the balcony are four rounded knee braces, surrounding the balcony is an iron railing. This house shows a
symmetrical facade which is uncommon among Spanish Eclectic. The doorway is also symmetrical with a large arched wood door
and two narrow rectangular windows on either side. There is a white stuccoed wall surrounding a small front courtyard. On the left
wiry wail 0 vie is a brick wait that extended around the side and opens for car entrance to a pitch roofed garage.

A one story Craftsman bungalow. This is a square plan front gabled Craftsman influenced residence. The main roof, which is
asphalt composition shingle, extends over the porch. The roof rafters are exposed beneath the overhanging eave, and the knee
braces below the front gable are also visible. Under the gable is a vent with wood panels in the center. The porch is supported by
four square columns with two large brick piers on each end. In between the columns is a white picket railing. This is a unique
Craftsman in that the wall cladding is a wood composition shingle siding, a Victorian Shingle influence. There is a large exterior brick
chimney on the south wall. The two large windows on the front of the house are single sash with two double hung side panels with
wood trim. The front door has a lower wood panel and a glass panel above. There is a back wing cross gable that is a later addition.

A two story, side gabled Craftsman house. This irregularly shaped house has a cantilevered porch with a shed roof which is
probably a later addition and does not conform to the Craftsman style of the rest of the building. The porch is supported by
round wood columns on stone bases. The front gable is cross gabled by a large dormer with overhanging eaves. The
window in the dormer has three sashes, all single pane. The roof is composition shingle and the wall cladding is wood
shingle siding. The exposed roof beams suggest a Craftsman influence. The front door has glass panels and the windows
are double huna and arouped in three. The single sash windows on the second story cantilevered sleeping porch wrap
around the entire room.

demonstrates a more modern design. The double doors in the front entry are also a feature found in French Eclectic homes,
however the entrance is usually in the tower. There is a small square window in the half-timbered front gable. Another notable
Windo , is the bay window on the far left end of the fawdc. The front ontrancc has rounded platform stairs and brick piers and iron
railing that separates the entrance from the front yard. Behind the main house is a two story rectangular plan guest house.

*133a. Description: (Describe resource and its major elements. Include design, materials, condition, alterations, size, setting, and

This one story residence is unique in design. The influence of Craftsman, Pre -Railroad Folk and Minimal Traditional features create
an original structure. The roof is a composition shingle surface, the wall cladding is wood panel as well as solid log walls on the front
wall and porch wall_ The wood panels are finished to look like a log cabin and create a folk cabin look similar to Folk houses built in
1850-1890 and the exposed roof beams are a Craftsman detail. The modem influence is apparent in the long facade width, a
concept developed in the 194Us and 59s. The front gable over the car port has a king post design, as well as large roof beams that
are beveled on the ends. The carport is supported by brick piers with wood posts above. On the right exterior wall is a wood beam
and a wood framed unenclosed atrium. The property is landscaped with large banana trees and other vegetation.

A one-story Ranch style duplex. Notable features in the front house are the rambling form of the Ranch house, which
emphasizes maximizing facade width, a built-in garage, and the low-pitched, side gabled roof. Other features are the
lack of decorative detailing. The use of the horizontal lines is common in the Ranch style. In this particular case the
use of curved wooden wall cladding and brick walls in running bond are an example of horizontal lines. There is interior
brick chimney and an entry porch supported by two wood posts. Also the windows with decorative shutters are typical. There is
a rear unit built in the same manner as the main unit. The structure is on a square ground plan. It is capped
with a hipped roof sheathed with composition shingles. The entrance porch is recessed within the corner of the facade
under the roof. Wood posts support the roof. The entire property is surrounded by paved ground, and the building is set close to
the street line.

This Contemporary style one story residence borrows from both International and Contemporary styles. The flat roof
is typical of the International style. Contemporary features include the combination of brick and concrete wall cladding.
Landscaping is an important aspect of the Contemporary Modern Style: incorporating the building into the environment
is the goal. As one can see in this home, it is difficult to view the house because of the landscaping. The long facade
with very little detail is also a more modem design. This facade has no visible windows and only one entrance with a
simple porch.

A one story Modern residence. This structure is a simple rectangular plan, symmetrical in design, with very little detail or
decoration typical of Contemporary Modern design. The house has a low pitched center unit, with two long rectangular units on
either side. The roof and the wall are flat with no overhang. Centered under the pitched center roof, there is a large wood double
door. Tall trees line the exterior walls and form a symmetrical design around the flat walls. There are no visible windows on the front
elevation. It is difficult to view the structure due to the landscaping which is so well incorporated into the design.
