HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 11g - Accept Tennis Court Resurfacing Project as CompleteAccept Resurfacing of Tennis Courts Project August 7, 2018 Page 1 of 3 DATE: August 7, 2018 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: Tom Tait, Public Works Services Director By: Dave Thompson, Streets Superintendent SUBJECT: ACCEPT ALL WORK PERFORMED BY CALIFORNIA SURFACING FOR THE TENNIS COURT RESURFACING PROJECT AT CAMINO GROVE PARK AND BICENTENNIAL PARK AS COMPLETE Recommendation: Approve SUMMARY On March 20, 2018, the City Council approved a contract with California Surfacing in the amount of $44,400 for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Camino Grove Park and Bicentennial Park. The terms and conditions of this project have been complied with and the work has been performed to the satisfaction of the Project Manager for a total project cost of $44,400. It is recommended that the City Council accept all work performed by California Surfacing for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Camino Grove Park and Bicentennial Park as complete, and authorize the final payment to be made in accordance with the contract documents, subject to the retention of $2,220. DISCUSSION The Public Works Services Department (“PWSD”) is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all City parks and facilities. The tennis courts at Camino Grove and Bicentennial Park had not been resurfaced in over eight years and were showing signs of surface cracking and wear. The Fiscal Year 2017-18 Capital Improvement Plan budget provided for the resurfacing of three tennis courts at Camino Grove Park and two tennis courts at Bicentennial Park. On March 20, 2018, the City Council approved a contract with California Surfacing for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Camino Grove Park and Bicentennial Park . The work performed included the removal of existing coatings, crack filling and sealing, minor court repairs, and new striping of court lines (See example included as Attachment “A”). The terms and conditions of this contract have been complied with and Accept Resurfacing of Tennis Courts Project August 7, 2018 Page 2 of 3 the work has been performed to the satisfaction of the Project Manager. California Surfacing has completed the work as defined by the City’s specifications in an efficient manner. FISCAL IMPACT The total cost of the project is $44,400 and funds in the amount of $50,000 have been appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2017-18 Capital Improvement Plan budget for this project. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council accept all work performed by California Surfacing for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Camino Grove Park and Bicentennial Park as complete, and authorize the final payment to be made in accordance with the contract documents, subject to the retention of $2,220.
