DATE: November 20, 2018
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Dominic Lazzaretto, City Manager
By: Lisa Mussenden, Chief Deputy City Clerk/Records Manager
SUBJECT: CANCELLATION OF THE JANUARY 1, 2019, REGULAR CITY COUNCIL
MEETING
Recommendation: Approve
SUMMARY
Due to the first City Council meeting of January 2019 falling on the New Year’s Day
holiday, it is recommended that the City Council approve the cancellation of the January
1, 2019, regular City Council meeting.
DISCUSSION
Traditionally, the City Council has cancelled one meeting per year around the holidays
in order to ease schedules when many employees, Council Members, and contractors
tend to take significant time off. This year, since the January 1, 2019, City Council
meeting falls on the actual New Year’s Day holiday, it is recommended that the meeting
be cancelled. Should a necessity arise, a special meeting could be conducted to
expedite any item which might require immediate City Council action.
ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
The proposed action does not constitute a project under the California Environmental
Quality Act (“CEQA”), and it can be seen with certainty that it will have no impact on the
environment. Thus, this matter is exempt under CEQA.
FISCAL IMPACT
There will be very minor savings in printing costs and staff overtime by not conducting
this meeting.
