SUMMARY
The Friends of the Museum and the Hakka Foundation are offering a gift of $2,000 to
the Gilb Museum to provide educational programs by the Museum for the community. It

DISCUSSION
The Friends of the Museum, as part of its ongoing mission to support the Museum’s
goals and objectives, are donating $2,000 to the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage. The
Friends of the Museum board members raise this money th rough memberships to the
Friends of the Museum, and in seeking donations from foundations such as the Hakka
Foundation. The Museum is the City entity that collects, preserves, displays, and
recognizes Arcadia’s rich heritage, past and present, for the community to enjoy in a
shared public setting for learning, reflection, and discussion.
The Friends of the Museum and Hakka Foundation gift will provide the Museum with
funds to offer some new educational science and history programs that are directly
related to local history in Arcadia. This will include activities, demonstrations, and an up -
close look at various fields of science as they relate to local history with an up-close
look at some of the highlights of the Museum’s collections and exhibits.
The funds donated by the Friends of the Museum help the Gilb Museum of Arcadia
Heritage and the City of Arcadia provide a high level of Arcadia historical materials,
exhibits, programs, and preservation for the citizens of Arcadia beyond the current
capacity of the City’s General Fund. Without the ongoing support of the Friends of the
