The contractor shall ensure that all necessary measures are in place to prevent any oak
tree designated to remain from being damaged. Probx;five fencing at the Tree Protection
Zone (TPZ) must be in place at all times, at the tree drip tine or minimum 15' from the
outside edge of tree trunk if approved by the City. Fencing may be moved temporarily to
allow for necessary construction work only with Arborist permission, and must be put back
as quickly as possible. No hardscape construction, grading, compaction, or trenching, no
storage of materials, vehicles, or debris, and no washing of chemicals or equipment are
albwed within the TPZ, except as alWted by the Arborist or per a project Encroachment
Permit. All demolition and grading within TPZ, to be done with hand tools under Arborist
supervision. All necessary trenching should be done by hand with pneumatic or hydraulic
soil excavation toots, and roots larger than 1-112' should not be cut. These measures must
be continuously maintained throughout construction.
Temporary protective fencing shall be installed as necessary to protect existing trues; and
care taken to avoid damage to tree candies or root systems during construction, grading,
and trenching. Use hand tools when working, around roots, and do not cut roots larger than
1-1&' diameter. Any necessary pruning of the canopy, and any cutting of larger roots, shalt
be done under the supervision of a certified Arborist. No washing of chemicals or
equipment aHowed under tree canopies. Provide minimum monthly deep watering as
necessary to keep trees healthy until the new irrigation system is installed.
