BACKGROUND Orange Grove Reservoir No. 2 is a concrete reservoir with a wood roof constructed in 1920 and is the second oldest reservoir in the City’s water system . The reservoir holds 2.5 million gallons of water used to supply water to City of Arcadia water system customers. The existing wood roof cover was installed in 1972. An inspection of the facility’s roof identified increased areas of deterioration. In addition, an inspection by the California Department of Health also identified that the roof vents were in need of replacement in order to prevent debris from entering the reservoir. Due the condition of the roof, the reservoir has been out of service since October 2016. The work performed included the removal of the existing roof system and replacement with an adhered PVC membrane roof system, removal and replacement of damaged or deteriorated wood plank decking and wood support purlins, and installation of three new roof vents. The new roof will prevent overloading of rafters and reduce the potential for contamination in the reservoir. The new PVC membrane roof system comes with a 20 year limited warranty. During the course of work, it was determined that it was necessary to install an additional walkway on the roof to prevent anyone working on the Orange Grove Reservoir roof from falling in the future due to the slick surface of the PVC membrane roofing material. As the result, a slight increase in the amount of work was needed to complete the project. Below is a breakdown of the contract change order. CCO Description Amount 1.
