Revisions to the existing Classification Specification for Building Technician 1/Il. Recommended Action: Approve Don Stockham, Building Official, presented the staff report. 1-14-2016 Don stated that due to a recent resignation, the Development Services Department was able to review the job specification and are proposing relatively minor adjustments to the classification specifications for Building Technician 1/II. The purpose of the proposed revisions is to bring the job up to date with current practices. Specifically, the job classification has many references to the terms "Uniform Code" and "ICBG," which have been replaced by "California/International Codes" and "International Code Council" (ICC). The Department is also requesting to remove the duties that are no longer relevant to the position such as operation of a two-way radio, typewriter, and the requirement to type 40 words per minute because they are not considered essential functions for successful performance of the job. Commissioner Francone asked if this was simply an update to the job classification. Don responded that it is an update to the specification as it has not been reviewed in over 16 years. Commissioner Wong -Dion asked how many Building Technician 1/II's do they have in their Department. Don responded that there are two positions including this vacancy. Commissioner Wong -Dion also asked who do these positions report to and Don replied that both positions report to him. It was moved by Commissioner Francone, seconded by Wong -Dion, and carried on roll call vote to approve the revisions to the existing Classification Specification of Building Technician 1/II.
