Commissioner Salter attended the Moonlight Festival and the Arcadia Gardens lighting
ceremony. Commissioner Salter asked if the Arboretum can arrange for seniors who cannot
walk long distance, or in a wheelchair, some kind of transportation throughout the Moonlight
Festival event next year. City Council Member Beck said the Arboretum may not want vans or
trams in the walkway during the event for safety reasons. Recreation and Community Services
Director (RCSD) Sara Somogyi said she will inquire about this matter.
Commissioner Martinez thanked everyone at the Arcadia Recreation and Community Center for
well-organized events and also for the great response from the community throughout the year.

their spouses. The Arcadia Senior Men's Club is open from 8am to 2:30pm and invites men and

Chairperson Platt had a few questions from senior citizens. The first question: When will
construction begin on the development at Santa Anita and Live Oak? Council Member Beck
responded there is no strict timeline. There is a long process to have plans approved, including
approval by the Police Department and Fire Department which could take from six months to
one year. The second question: Will Prince Erik Hall be torn down? Council Member Beck said
Prince Erik Hall is on the designated list for historical preservation. Council Member Beck said
he was not sure what will happen at this time. Prince Erik Hall may be moved or it could be
purchased by a developer. It is uncertain what will happen until this matter goes through the
Planning Commission, then to City Council. The last question: Has the crosswalk on Duarte
Road been removed? Council Member Beck said the crosswalk at 627 W. Duarte Road,
between Lovell Street and Baldwin Boulevard was removed due to safety concerns.
