DISCUSSION The Fiscal Year 2018-19 CIP budget provides for the replacement of the carpet on the second floor at Fire Station 105. The carpet tiles at Fire Station 105 were the original carpet tiles that were installed over 10 years ago during the building’s construction. Due to the station’s high-traffic activity, the carpet tiles were worn and stained beyond repair, and in need of replacement. In an effort to prevent premature wear and increase the lifespan of the newly installed flooring, a select combination of wear and stain resistant carpet tile and vinyl linoleum products were installed. The areas of initial entry received a highly durable “walk off” carpet tile that has a thicker pile than traditional carpeting, and increased stain resistance. The high-traffic hallways were covered in a plank vinyl linoleum product that will allow for simplified routine cleaning and maintenance. The carpet tiles in the dorm and office areas were replaced with a color Accept Fire Station 105 Carpet Replacement Project November 5, 2019 Page 2 of 2 and pattern that will hide dirt more effectively to preserve the appearance of the carpeting. All Mohawk Commercial, Inc. carpet tiles carry a limited lifetime warranty, while the vinyl linoleum product offers a 10-year limited warranty. The change order listed below was required to order a small quantity of additional carpet tile material to complete the project. It was determined after material was initially ordered that an area of flooring at the fire station was more suitable to be covered in carpet tile than in plank vinyl linoleum, which was originally specified in the contract. CCO# Description Amount 1.
