Recommendation: Accept
SUMMARY
The Friends of the Arcadia Public Library have offered a donation of $5,000 to fund Library
programming during Winter and Spring 2020.
DISCUSSION
The Friends of the Arcadia Public Library (the “Friends”), as part of their ongoing mission
to support the Library’s goals and objectives, are donating $5,000 to the Library to fund
ongoing programming for children. The Friends work six days a week throughout the
year to raise these funds through sales of used books and other items by the Friends
Bookstore, located inside the Arcadia Public Library.
The funds donated by the Friends help the Library provide quality programs for the
children of Arcadia beyond the current capacity of the City’s General Fund. All donations
to the Library over $1,000 are subject to approval by the City Council pursuant to City
Charter Section 809(d).
ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
The proposed action does not constitute a project under the California Environmental
Quality Act (“CEQA”), and it can be seen with certainty that it will have no impact on the
environment. Thus, this matter is exempt under CEQA.
