SUBJECT: DONATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,378 FROM THE SANTA ANITA
LITTLE LEAGUE TO ADD A PITCH COUNT PANEL TO THE BASEBALL
SCOREBOARD FOR THE EISENHOWER PARK IMPROVEMENT
PROJECT
Recommendation: Approve
SUMMARY
The Santa Anita Little League expressed interest in funding the additional cost for a pitch
count panel for the new scoreboard that is being installed at the baseball field as part of
the Eisenhower Park Improvement Project. It is recommended the City Council accept
the donation in the amount of $4,378 from Santa Anita Little League to add the pitch count
panel to the scope of work for the Eisenhower Park Improvement Project.
DISCUSSION
On June 4, 2019, the City Council awarded a contract to Byrom-Davey, Inc. to provide
professional design-build services for the Eisenhower Park Improvement Project. The
proposed project includes synthetic turf baseball fields. The baseball fields are currently
under construction. As part of the project, a new baseball scoreboard will be installed.
During the construction submittal review process, the Santa Anita Little League
expressed interest in adding a pitch count panel to the proposed scoreboard. The pitch
count feature was not included in the original scope of work, and would cost the City an
additional $4,378. In order to offset the City’s budget, the Santa Anita Little League offered
to donate the additional funds to the City in the amount of $4,378 to add the pitch count
panel to the new scoreboard. The City’s Charter requires that donations greater than
$1,000 to be approved by the City Council. It is recommended that the City Council
accept the donation to add a pitch count panel to the scoreboard.
