DATE: December 3, 2019
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
FROM: Dominic Lazzaretto, City Manager
By: Lisa Mussenden, Chief Deputy City Clerk/Records Manager
SUBJECT: CANCELLATION OF THE JANUARY 7, 2020, REGULAR CITY COUNCIL
MEETING
Recommendation: Approve
SUMMARY
Due to a lack of agenda items for the City Council meeting of January 7, 2020, as well as
the timing of the holidays, Mayor Verlato has requested that this meeting be cancelled.
DISCUSSION
Traditionally, the City Council has cancelled one meeting per year around the holidays in
order to ease schedules when many employees, Council Members, and contractors tend
to take significant time off. This year, Mayor Verlato has requested that the January 7,
2020, be cancelled because it is the City Council meeting that falls closest to, and would
be most affected by, the holidays.
At this time, only routine matters that are not time sensitive are scheduled for the City
Council meeting of January 7, 2020. Therefore, it is proposed that the meeting be
cancelled. Should a necessity arise, a special meeting could be conducted to expedite
any item which might require immediate City Council action during the dark period.
ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
The proposed action does not constitute a project under the California Environmental
Quality Act (“CEQA”), and it can be seen with certainty that it will have no impact on the
environment. Thus, this matter is exempt under CEQA.
FISCAL IMPACT
There will be very minor savings in printing costs and staff overtime by not conducting
this meeting.
