Subject: ARC ARCADIA Wall Insulation Date Required: September 09,2019
Question:
Due to the amount of new work (TV backing, data, power, plumbing etc.) in certain walls, some drywall had to be
removed completely up to 8 feet to make patch back cleaner and provide a more quality finish product. Per our building
inspection today, any walls where drywall was removed and R11 insulation was exposed,the R11 should be replaced
with R15 insulation unless our architect believes leaving R11 in place is acceptable. If R11 is acceptable and approval
is given, our inspector is satisfied with leaving R11 in place. Existing insulation in walls that have drywall still intact,
does not need to be changed. See attached for photos and locations of walls in question.
Pankow believes that leaving R11 intact is the most time effective and cost effective solution.
Please confirm if leaving R11 insulation is acceptable.

We are unaware of a cost difference between R-15 insulation and any lesser amount. Certainly, placing any existing
R-11 insulation that may have fallen during demolition is acceptable. New insulation (insulation that replaced damaged
old insulation or uninsulated cavities) should meet current code but if the inspection team is willing to accept R-11, or
R-13 for that matter,we take no exception. Operating cost will be slightly higher.
