HomeMy WebLinkAbout7278 RESOLUTION NO. 7278 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, CALLING FOR THE HOLDING OF AN ALL-MAIL BALLOT GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON TUESDAY, APRIL 14, 2020, FOR THE ELECTION OF MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL IN ELECTORAL DISTRICTS 1, AND 4, AND A CITY CLERK AS REQUIRED BY THE CITY CHARTER AND ORDINANCE NO. 2350 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Pursuant to City Charter Section 1100, a General Municipal Election shall be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, for the election of two (2) Members of the City Council in Districts 1 and 4, and a City Clerk At-Large position. In compliance with Ordinance No. 2352, and Senate Bill 415, the term for Members of the City Council in Districts 1 and 4 and for the City Clerk shall last until November 2024, or until their successors elected at the November 2024 election have been qualified. Pursuant to Ordinance No. 2293, this election shall be conducted by all-mail ballot. SECTION 2. The ballots to be used in this all-mail ballot election shall be in form and content as required by law. SECTION 3. The City Clerk is authorized, instructed and directed to coordinate with the County of Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfully conduct the election. SECTION 4. In all particulars not recited in this Resolution, the election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections. 1 SECTION 5. The notice of the time and place of holding the election is given and the Elections Official is authorized, instructed and directed to give further or additional notice of the election, in time, form and manner as required by law. SECTION 6. The City Council authorizes the Elections Official to administer said election, and all reasonable and actual election expenses shall be paid by the City upon presentation of properly submitted bills. SECTION 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and shall cause notice of the election, the offices to be filled, and other matters relating to the election to be given as required by the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall, not later than the 88th day prior to the General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, file with the Board of Supervisors and the County Clerk — Registrar of Voters of the County of Los Angeles, State of California, a certified copy of this Resolution.
