SUMMARY
The Hakka Foundation would like to donate $1,000 to the Gilb Museum of Arcadia
Heritage to further support its educational programs that share the love of local Arcadia
history with the community. It is recommended the City Council accept this donation.
DISCUSSION
The Hakka Foundation is a local Arcadia-based agency that has been very supportive
of the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage as well as the Floretta K. Lauber Museum
Education Center. This donation will help the Museum continue to develop and offer
free Museum quality educational programs and experiences to the youth and families of
the community.
All gifts $1,000 or more are subject to approval by the City Council pursuant to City
Charter Section 809(d).
ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
The proposed action does not constitute a project under the California Environmental
Quality Act (“CEQA”), and it can be seen with certainty that it will have no impact on the
environment. Thus, this matter is exempt under CEQA.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage has a finite budget and the generous support of
the Hakka Foundation enables the Museum to offer local history educational programs
and experiences above and beyond the current level of City funding. This additional

money allows for the purchase of tactile educational materials and supplies that directly
benefit the youth of the community, including the Summer Enrichment program, the
drop-in Kids Corner, the Museum Preschool program as well as elementary classroom
visits at the Museum.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended the City Council determines that this action does not constitute a
project and is therefore exempt under the California Environmental Quality Act
(“CEQA”); and accept a donation in the amount of $1,000 from the Hakka Foundation
for the Gilb Museum of Arcadia Heritage.
