SUBJECT: Healthy Protected Tree Removal No. TRH 20-01
PROJECT ADDRESS: 210 W. Orange Grove Avenue
Dear Mr. Wang:
The public comment period for the Notice of Pending Decision for the above
mentioned application ended on June 9, 2020. Staff did not receive any
comments during the public comment period. After consideration, the
Development Services Department has conditionally approved the request to
remove a protected Coast Live Oak tree with a trunk diameter of 24 -inches that
is currently located adjacent to the building in the front yard area in order to
accommodate 447 square foot addition to the main house. Alternative locations
for the proposed addition were taken into consideration, however, due to the
existing interior of the building, the proposed location is was one of the practical
area to extend the floor plan without significant changes to the layout or exterior
of the existing building. Th e design of the addition was approved by the Santa
Anita Oaks Association. Additionally, the site has an abundance of protected with
a total count of 24 trees, of those protected the site has 17 Oak trees. Therefore,
replacement trees will not be required. The application is subject to the following
condition:
1. The applicant shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the City of
Arcadia and its officials, officers, employees, and agents from and against
any claim, action, or proceeding against the City of Arcadia, its officials,
officers, employees or agents to attack, set aside, void, or annul any
approval or conditional approval of the City of Arcadia concerning this
project and/or land use decision, including but not limited to any approval
or conditional approval of the City Council, Planning Commission, or City
Staff, which action is brought within the time period provided for in
Government Code Section 66499.37 or other provision of law applicable
to this project or decision. The City shall promptly notify the applicant of
any claim, action, or proceeding concerning the project and/or land use
decision and the City shall cooperate fully in the defense of the matter.
The City reserves the right, at its own option, to choose its own attorney
to represent the City, its officials, officers, employees, and agents in the
defense of the matter.
There is a ten (10) day appeal period for this application. To submit an Appeal
Application, please visit www.ArcadiaCA.gov/planning and follow the
instructions. Please submit a complete Appeal Application by 5:30 p.m. on
Monday, June 22, 2020. Please be aware that City will be closed on Friday,
June 19, 2020. The Planning Division is open to the public by appointment only.

Approval of TRH 20-01 shall not be of effect unless the property owner and applicant have
executed and filed the enclosed Acceptance Form to indicate awareness and acceptance of
these conditions of approval. The Acceptance form is due now and if it is not received by July
11, 2020, this approval will become null and void. The form can be submitted via email.
