This agenda contains a summary of each item of business which the Council may discuss or ad on at this meeting.

office of the City Clerk and the reference desk at the Arcadia Public Library and are available for public inspedion and

Council Members Kovacic and Segal arrived at 6:10 p.m. and joined the proceedings.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM STAFF REGARDING AGENDA ITEMS

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION -(5 minutes per person)

1. CITY MANAGER
a. Report and discussion concerning Emerald Necklace.
The Ciry Councils of EI Monte and Arcadia received a report regarding the "Emerald
Necklace" projed from EI Monte Deputy City Manager/Recreation and Community
Services Tom Hatch; he noted the signifcance of the project in terms of expanded
recreational, conservation, educational, and transportation opportunities throughout the
San Gabriel Valley; he walked the Councils through a presentation that highlighted the
"jewels" of the nxklace, which included property acquisition, recreational developmentr;
and environmental protection along the 17-mile route; Mr. Hatch also responded to
various questions from the Ciry Councils regarding boundary descriptions and future
oartnershio oooortunities.
b. Report and discussion concerning Baldwin Avenue Underpass (Ace Corridor).
]uan Mireles, EI Monte City Manager, reported that the Baldwin Avenue Underpass will be
first priority during Phase II of the projed; staff also discussed the cost prohibitive
nature of property acquisition in the areas, as well as the possibility of obtaining support
from surrounding cities.

c. Report and discussion Phase II Gold Line.
Bill Kelly, Arcadia City Manager, provided both Councils with an update regarding the Gold
Line Phase II project; he noted that the completed project will ease the transportation
burdens on both the 210 and the 10 freeways; he further commented on the status of
the crossing at Santa Anita In Arcadia; Mr. Kelly remarked that Los Angeles County
Supervisor Mike Antonovich has been very supportive of this projed.

Noting no further business the City Council adjourned this meeting to May 3, 2005, at 5:00 p.m. in
the Council Chamber Conference Room.
