HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 09b - Cancel November 3 2020 City Council Meeting DATE: October 20, 2020 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: Dominic Lazzaretto, City Manager By: Linda Rodriguez, Assistant City Clerk SUBJECT: CANCELLATION OF THE NOVEMBER 3, 2020, REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Recommendation: Approve SUMMARY Due to the November 3, 2020, General Election falling on a regular City Council meeting day and a very light agenda, it is recommended that the Regular Meeting of that date be cancelled. DISCUSSION Due to the November 3, 2020, U.S. Presidential Election falling on a regular City Council meeting day, it is recommended that the November 3 City Council meeting be cancelled. There are currently no time-sensitive items that have been scheduled for the November 3 meeting. If the City Council cancels the meeting, staff will plan ahead, ensuring there are no delays in a time-sensitive item that would otherwise be addressed at that meeting. Should a necessity arise, a special meeting could be conducted to expedite any item which might require immediate City Council action. FISCAL IMPACT There will be very minor savings in printing costs and staff overtime by not conducting this meeting. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council approve the cancellation of the November 3, 2020, regular City Council meeting; and direct the City Clerk’s office to post the required notices.
