HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/19/2021 - Special Meeting ARCADIA CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, JANUARY 19, 2021 CALL TO ORDER - Mayor Chandler called the Special Meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. ROLL CALL OF CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Beck, Cheng, Verlato, Tay, and Chandler ABSENT: None Council Member Verlato announced that she has a conflict of interest regarding Study Session Item a., due to her ownership of property located within 1,000 feet of the proposed project area, and she recused herself from participation and discussion in this matter, and exited the Conference line. PUBLIC COMMENTS David Fu, attorney representing Dr. Dong Chang, called and expressed Mr. Chang's concerns regarding the affects the potential residential development in Downtown Arcadia may have on Mr. Chang's business. City Manager Lazzaretto read into the record the following emails submitted for Public Comment: Dong L. Chang, M.D.: Listed his concerns regarding the potential residential development in Downtown Arcadia. Martin Gandell, President of Downtown Arcadia Improvement Association: Provided a list of comments related to the design of the proposed project. STUDY SESSION a. Report, discussion, and direction concerning potential residential development in Downtown Arcadia, including properties at 150 N. Santa Anita Avenue, 25- 31 Wheeler Avenue and 30 E. Santa Clara Street. Assistant City Manager/Development Services Director Kruckeberg provided a brief report on the potential development of the project. Alan Pullman, Senior Principal at Studio One Eleven presented the PowerPoint Presentation Garth Erdossy, Senior Managing Director, Trammell Crow Residential, appeared and provided information on the design of the project. After discussion, the City Council provided insight and commented on the preliminary concept of the project. The item will be brought back to a future City Council meeting for further consideration and discussion. At 5:58 p.m. the City Council convened to a Closed Session. CLOSED SESSION a. Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9 (d)(1) to confer with legal counsel regarding the matter of the City of Arcadia vs. The Dow Chemical Company; Dow Agrosciences LLC; Shell Oil Company, et al., United States District Court, Central District(Case No. 2:18-cv-10139).
