'I CALL TO ORDER — Chair Jeanne Roy called the meeting to order at 5:05 p.m. in a teleconference call. ROLL CALL: Chair Jeanne Roy; Commissioners Dale Carter, Billie Tone, Virginia Blitz; Cit Council Liaison April Verlato; Director of Library & Museum Services Darlen Bradley; Library Services Manager Roger Hiles; Curator Stevy Acevedo; Museu Education Coordinator Brittani Alberto I Commissioner Carter moved to excuse the absence of Commissioner Carlos Reza Jr., seconded by Commissioner Tone, and carried on a voice vote. AYES: Chair Roy, Commissioners Carter, Tone, and Blitz NOES: None ABSENT Commissioner Reza Jr. 2 q -11 immexelepulu" A-- - 1k, I & W 01 REPORTS FROM MUSEUM COMMISSION MEMBERS I LIAISONS Commissioner Blitz reported that on the following day would be the meeting of the Friends of the Arcadia Museum, the last being on November 5, 2020. This meeting will be dedicated to the discussion and finalization of the membership letters. Some members also attended a webinar put on by the Texas Historical Commission. Councilmember Verlato reported that the numbers for COVID are rising, and that Methodist Hospital is at capacity. The National Guard has been called in to assist. There is a Resource Hub for homeless individuals at the Par 3 golf course. This hub provides services for homeless persons living in the wash area and will be in operation until May. Hours for the hub are Thursdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Proposals are being made for new developments in Downtown Arcadia near the Bank of America building. Also made comments on the protests at the U.S. Capitol and near Los Angeles City Hall. REPORT FROM THE DIRECTOR Director Bradley wished everyone a Happy New Year and that the Museum is still in a holding pattern with regards to COVID-1 9 and reopening the building at this time with cases so high. REPORT FROM THE CURATOR Curator Acevedo reported that she is updating the permanent exhibits in the Museum and addin a section on the 1984 Olympics as well as a 'Women of Arcadia' exhibit. She is also organizing Community Collections Exhibit, which will potentially include photos of collections created b community members. This exhibit will be held virtually for the community. Ms. Acevedo als mentioned that Ms. Alberto, the Museum Education Coordinator, is creating educational kits fo children in the community and will be distributing approximately 2,000 kits over the course of thl. q entire year. The Museum will distribute kits for children aged 5-12, as well as kits for preschoolers in alternate months. Ms. Acevedo helped the Friends of the Museum Board prepare the letter for the membership drive. She is also finishing up the paperwork and submitting the expense report for the 2020 Getty Marrow Undergraduate Internship. She also reported that the Gilb Museum has a steady team of volunteers and interns who are busy with projects that Ms. Alberto assigns on Slack. The Gilb Museum also hosted a college panel on Saturday, November 21. This college panel included previous or current volunteers and interns who are currently in college or have recently graduated. These panelists spoke on their college application experience and dispensed advice to the teen volunteers from the Museum and the Arcadia Public Library. REPORT FROM THE MUSEUM EDUCATION CORDINATOR Education Coordinator Alberto had nothing to report. CONSENT CALENDAR a.
