We double checked the relevant building codes and do not believe the corridor needs to be protected per the following: Per Table 503, Allowable Height and Buildina Areas, a Type V-B building with "B" occupancy can have up to 29,000 s.f. and 40' in height. Current building in question is 4,714 s.f. with a height under 40', thus it can be analyzed as a Type V-B building. Per Table 601, Fire Resistance Rating Requirements for Building Elements, a Type V-B do not require fire rating for any walls, floors and roof, bearing or non bearing. The occupancy load of the building is 48 per Table 1004.1.1, Maximum Floor Area Allowances per Occupant (100 gross in Business function). Per Table 1015.1, Spaces with One Means of Egress, a "B" occupancy building with less than 49 occupants requires only one exit. Per Table 1017.1, Corridor Fire-Resistance Rating, a "B" occupancy building with under 30 occupants and single exit, and without fire sprinklers, do not require any fire resistance.
