Arcadia Museum Commission was conducted by conference call.
CALL TO ORDER — Chair Jeanne Roy called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. in a conference
call.

Commissioner Carter moved to excuse the absence of Commissioner Carlos Reza Jr., seconded
by Commissioner Blitz, and carried on a voice vote.

NOES: None
ABSENT Commissioner Reza Jr.

REPORTS FROM MUSEUM COMMISSION MEMBERS / LIAISONS:
April Verlato noted City Council met the previous night and is moving forward for council elections
in November 2022. City Council is also looking into amending chapter bylaws. The Arcadia Police
Foundation received $30,000 donation for the K-9 program. The design for the Anita Baldwin
statue was revealed at City Council. City Council also voted 5-0 for interim housing for individuals
experiencing homelessness. Funds would come from Measure H and the state. Reports state
that Arcadia has gone from 14 homeless persons in 2019 to 116 homeless persons in 2020. Ginny
Blitz announced the FAM Board will convene tomorrow. The meeting last month was cancelled.
FAM has received many donations and membership renewals. Dale Carter has a Speakers
Bureau Talk scheduled on the topic of the Santa Anita Depot.
Director's Report: Director Bradley reported the Arcadia Historical Society is working on the
William Parker Lyons History Lives Here sign and Anita Baldwin History Lives Here Sign, The
Arcadia Historical Society will also be hosting Murder at the Baldwin Ranch fundraiser.
Report from the Curator: Curator Acevedo reported that she is working on the Community
Collections Virtual Exhibit and currently updating the Arcadia in the Movies section of the
Museum. As for collections, the Museum is hosting the Anthony Wilkinson Collection on
FromThePage, so people from around the globe can help the Museum transcribe documents.
The Gilb Museum will also be partnering with the Arcadia Senior Services Department to give
virtual presentations. Dale Carter, Laura Henneforth, Ms. Acevedo, and Ms. Alberto will all give
presentations to members of the Arcadia community. Ms. Acevedo also reported the Gilb Museum
received the Cataloging California Grant and has applied for the Getty Grant to receive funds for
internships for the summer. The Gilb Museum was also awarded the PTA Honorary Services
Award.
Report from the Museum Education Coordinator: Education Coordinator Alberto updated the
Commission on the work of the volunteers. The Museum's volunteers have completed over 240
hours virtually. Ms. Alberto also reported that the Museum has over ten requests for virtual
education programs with Arcadia -area elementary schools. The Gilb Museum will also be hosting
a Lucky Baldwin -themed Trivia Night and a Transcribe-a-thon to recruit help for transcribing the
Anthony Wilkinson Collection.

Commission Member Tone moved to approve Consent Calendar Item "a", which was seconded
by Commission Member Carter, and carried on a voice vote.

Chair Roy adjourned the meeting at 5:45 p.m. to Wednesday, May 5, 2021 in the Museum
