Our meeting's purpose was to clarify questions regarding the new/existing wood posts. Some discrepancies had been noted by the inspector.We, as engineer of record, have observed and listed these discrepancies,as follows: 1. Wherever it is noted on the plans: "4X4 POST, FIELD VERIFY OR PROVIDE", it is structurally appropriate to have the 4x4 post replaced by and/or field-verified to be a built-up post made of at least 2-2x4s. 2. Where noted on plan to add a 4x4 post:the 4x4 post shall be installed in between the(E)wall sill plate and the(E)wall double top plate.The(E)top plates shall not be cut. The space above the plate, in the continuity of the post, and below the beam support, if there is any space, shall be filled with a shorter 4x4 post sitting on top of the top plate, and aligned with the post below. 3. At the entrance location, we visually observed that there is adequate support below each end of the (E) header beam. No additional post is required. It is therefore our understanding that these issues have been properly resolved by the contractor and are structurally sound.
