HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 09a - Appointments to the Charter Review Committee DATE: September 21, 2021 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council FROM: Dominic Lazzaretto, City Manager By: Linda Rodriguez, Assistant City Clerk SUBJECT: APPOINTMENTS TO THE CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE Recommendation: Make Appointments SUMMARY On July 6, 2021, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 7356 establishing a Charter Review Committee. At its special meeting on September 17, 2021, the City Council interviewed potential candidates for the Charter Review Committee. It is recommended that the City Council appoint five (5) members to the Charter Review Committee. DISCUSSION On September 17, 2021, the City Council conducted interviews with potential candidates for the Committee. Attached to this staff report are resumes of the candidates received during the advertisement process conducted by the City Clerk’s office. The City Council is requested to make appointments to the Charter Review Committee based on these eligible candidates. All applicants have been verified as residents and registered voters of the City. ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS The proposed action does not constitute a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) under Section 15061(b)(3) of the CEQA Guidelines, and it can be seen with certainty that it will have no impact on the environment. Thus, this matter is exempt under CEQA. FISCAL IMPACT There is no fiscal impact as a result of City Council action on this item. Charter Review Committee Appointments September 21, 2021 Page 2 of 2 RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Council determine that this action does not constitute a project under the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”); and appoint five (5) members to the Charter Review Committee.
