This assumption is plausible due to the fact that the solar array system takes up any space that could be used for live load purposes and the panels themselves cannot carry any extra live load. So, when we compare the distributed live load to the distributed dead load from the solar array, we see that the array distributed dead load is less than the initial live load design parameters.
