Tuesday, February 8,2000

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia met in regular session on Tuesday, February 8,
2000 at 7:15 p.rn. in the Council Chambers of the City of Arcadia, at 240 W. Huntington Drive with
Chairman Pro Tern Edward Huang presiding.
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Commissioners Huang, Kalemkiarian, Murphy, Sleeter
ABSENT: Commissioner Bruckner
MOTION
It was moved by Commissioner Sleeter, seconded by Commissioner Kalemkiarian to excuse
Commissioner Bruckner from tonight's meeting. The motion passed by voice vote with
none dissenting.

2. CONTINUED PUBLIC HEARING CUP 99-017'

Randy Rizzi
Consideration of conditional use permit to expand a garage business for automotive repair.
The staff report was presented.
Chairman Pro Tern Huang.re-opened the public hearing.
Cecilia Gaule, the attorney representing Mr. Rizz~ stated that all the hoists were removed. The
applicant has secured a storage facility off site and has moved his eguipment. The proposed design
is nice. The proposed material (brick) is compatible with the existing building. The applicant will
secure the appropriate building permits prior to reconstructing the hoists.
Mr. Rizzi said that he is in agreement with all of the conditions in the staff report.
In response to questions by Mr. Deitsch, Mr. Rizzi said that he. will follow the City's established
time lines, will obtain the necessary building permits, and all improvements will comply with code.
No one else spoke in favor of or in opposition to this item.
Chairman Pro Tern Huang closed the public hearing.
Commissioner Kalemkiarian said this is a busy establishment. It is very prosperous. He felt the
proposal meets all their objectives.
Commissioner Sleeter agreed.
Mr. Deitsch asked that the Planning Commission make the necessary findings outlined in the staff
report when taking any action on this item. At the Planning Commission's next meeting, staff will
prepare the appropriate resolution for Planning Commission's adoption. He made an amendment to
one of the conditions listed in the staff report with regard to the covenant. Said covenant must be
reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.
MOTION
It was moved by Commissioner Kalemkiarian, seconded by Commissioner Sleeter to approve
CUP 99-017, subject to the conditions listed in the staff report. Said approval is based upon
the fiildings listed in the staff report (page 4 and 5, findings 1-5).

Chairman Pro Tern Huang said the Planning Commission will adopt the resolution at their February
2200 meeting. There is a five working appeal period after the adoption of the resolution. Appeal is
to be filed by March I, 2000.
