The Planning Commission of the City of Arcadia met in regular session on Tuesday, November
27,2007 at 7:00p:m., in the Couilcil ChaIi1bers of the City of Arcadia, at 240 W. Huntington
Drive, with Chairman Baderian presiding,

1. ARCADIA DOWNTOWN PLANNING PRESENTATION BY COMMUNITY
PLANNING STUDIO CLASS FROM CAL POLY POMONA
The Development Services Department is partnering with a class from Cal Poly-
Pomona's Department of Urban and Regional Planning on planning issues related to
Arcadia's downtown area, The Class analyzed existing conditions related to parking.
land use mapping. economic development and use patterns. The class will provide their
findings and recommendations to the Planning Commission.
The Community Planning Studio Class from California State Polytechnic University,
Pomona, Deptof Urban and Regional Planning. presented the resuhs of their six month

project focusing on Arcadia's downtown area. The class was lead by Prof. Juliana
Delgado. Thespeakerswere:

Christina Ross
The students covered many city-planning topics such as policy recommendations, land
use and parking issues, . the development of a downtown theme or identity, public
transportation and the Metro Gold Line and the possible development of an Arts district.
They also provided renderings of the area as envisioned in their proposals. Please see
the CD of the presentation for details.
The Commissioners thanked the students and faculty and complimented them on the
presentation and asked questions regarding parking, .the transit center, business license
and use information, business hours and lot coverage.
Mr. Kruckeberg noted thattheJand use group did a good job in showing ways to achieve
the level of intensity and density of development that may be required in the future.
Chairman Baderian suggested that the City Council review the presentation too.
MOTION:
It was moved by Commissioner ParriIle, seconded by Commissioner Hsu to recommend
review of the presentation by the City Council.

Commissioner Beranek suggested that the Planning Commission meet with the City
Council after they review the presentation, possibly as a primary topic of conversation in
a joint meeting.

It was moved by Commissioner Beranek, seconded by Commissioner Parrille to approve
the minutes of November 13, 2007 as submitted.

Councilman Amundson reported thatthe Council is working on Fire Department code
updates and recreation fee assessments.
MODIFICATION COMMlITEEMEETING ACTIONS
Commissioner ParriIlereported that at the Modification Committee Meeting, item 1 was
postponed and item 2 was approved
FURTIIER MATIERS FROM STAFF
Mr. Kruckeberg reported that interviews had been conducted.for a General Plan
consultant and Hogle Ireland was selected. He also said that there will be a Planning
Commission meeting on December 11 and the redevelopment project on the move of the
Church in Arcadia will be on the agenda. He confirmed that the December 25 meetingis
cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
