minutes 01' the meeting of November 20th be approved as written and mailed.
Mr. Ross Himes verbally requested permission to withdraw his petition
for rezoning, filed With this Commission on Ootober 2nd. Motion by Yr.
Strawn, seoonded by Yr. Spurgeon and oarried that the request be grantell..
Pursuant to notice given, a publ10 hearing was held on the matter of
opening Seventh Avenue f.rom Du.arte Road to D811I1no Real. FOl.1.1' property
owners spoke against the proJeot, and one spoke in favor. The signed
:petition showed '70% in favor. Motion by Ur. Spurgeon that in. asmuoh as
this street conforms to the fo.ture plan of the Oity that this Oommission
recommend the opening 01' the street by means of condemnation and an assess-
ment district, and that the City work in conJunotion With the City of
MOll1'ovla. Sqid motion was seconded by Mr. YO'Wlg and carried bll the follow-
ing Tote:

Purauant to notioe given, a pu,bl1o hearing was lll1ld on ths petition .
o't Mr. and Mrs. Fred Carlsen requesting permission to conduot a real estate
office 1.t1 the dwelling at 45 Bonita Street. Four property owners spoke
against the petition. Mr. and 1l1's. Oarlsen spOke in 'tavor. Motion by Mr.
Moriarty, seoonded by Mr. Spurgeon and carried that the petition be 1'eo-
ommendecl for den1al on the grounds that if business is allowed to enter
the residential zone, it will increase and spread.
Petition 01' H. J. Ortman requested a zone varianoe to allow the oper-
ation 01' a mOll-head assembling business on the southerly 50 feet o't lot 9,
Tract :No. 6925, looated at '720 \'1. Du.arte Road. l4r. Ortman spoke in favor
o'! the petition. Yr. 1O.10k explained the business to be oonduoted. Motion
by Mr. Pike that in view of the nature and looation of the proposed busi-
ness, and that there is no obJeotion at the present time, that this Oom-
mission l'eoommend the approval of the petition, subject to the following
oonditions:
1. fhe business must begin operatio.n within 6 monthe.
2. The varianoe to expire 2 years after the effeotive date.
3. The buSiness to be limited to not more than 4 employees nor more than
2 seWing maohines.
Said motion was seconded by Mr. Spurgeon and lost by the followill8 vote:

ABSENT: Mr. Diokinson.
Tentative map of proposed subdivision near Fourth Avenue between
Camino Re-8l and Longden Avenue was again oonsidered. Motion by Mr. Spurgeon,
seconded by Mr. strawn and carried that tentative approval be recO/lllllended,
and that the attention of the Oity Counoil be direoted to the taot that the
tract is unsatisfaot0J.'7 as to Fourth Avenue, but is probably the best that
can be done at the present time.
