The City Planntng Commission met in regular meeting with Chairman Pike
presiding.

Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Anderson and oarried that the mlnutes
of the meeting cf Ootober 21st be approved as written and mailed.
Tentative map of proposed !ract No. 15703, located at the northwest cor-
ner of Longden Avenue and Sixth Avenue, was 8llbmitted by LTr. Ostermann. The
map &honed lots 6'1 Beet by 129 feet in size. Motion by Mr. Shafl, seoonded by
Hr. Ingstad and carried that the Chairman appoint a committee to investigate
the area and report baok at next meeting. The Chairman appointed LTr. Anderson
and Yr. Sh8\7 on the oommittee. IJr. Ostermann then fl1ed an amended map ehow-
lots 75 feet by 129 feet. Both maps crs~e referred to the Committee.
narJorie m. Sanders requested permission to oonduot an open air ~es
yard for retail sales of ceramio items and giftwares on property owned by
the Los Angeles County Flood Oontrol District on the south side of Les Tunas
Drive east of El Nonte Avenue, in Zone C-l. The laase on the property was
for three years, olth a 90 day oanoellation olause. Motion by Dr. Shaw,
seoonded by Yr. Ingstad and carried that this Oommlssion reoommend to the Clty
Counoil the repeal of the last too paragraphs of Section 7, Ordinanoe No. 439,
requiring all businesses in Zone C-l to be conduoted within buildings.
Letter from Florenoe J. Seaman requested permlsslon to build a third
dwelling at 541 1.1. Lemon Avenue, ln Zone a-l, containing less than 20,000
square feet. Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Anderson and oarrled that
the request be recQmmended for denial, because the oonditions do not meet
the requirements of the Zonlng Ordinance.

Communication from J. ~. Rognstad requested permisslon to name a private
street running north from IToodruff Avenue, east of the L. A. Oounty Flood
Oontrol Channel, "tJoodruff Plaoe". Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by !Jr. Pippln
and oarried that the request be recommended tor approval.
/ COlD.llllUl.ication from George ITlll1ams requested a two or three year exten-
sion ot time for Ordlnance ]To. 643 granting a zone variance to allo\1 a riding
academy at 702 3. Longden AVenue. Motion by Mr. Ingstad, seconded by mo.
Pippin and carrled that the Chairman ~p01nt 8 oommittee to lnvestigate the
matter. The Ohairman appointed Mr. Ingstad and Mr. Sllll1van as a committee
to investigate and report back to the Commission.
Motlon by Hr. Pippin, seoonded by Mr. Anderson and carried that th1s
Commisslon request the Oity Council to adopt a new ord1nance to more fully
regulate the Vlidth and area of lots divided by deed.
lIotlon by Mr. Shaw, seconded by lJIr. Sullivan and oarried that the
Commlssion set the matter of the proposed new zonlng ordinance for publio
hearlngs on November 22, November 29, Deoember 1 and December 6. All the
heari~to be held in the auditorium of the Flrst Avenue Sohool, beginnlng
at 7130 P. M. All of the hearings shall cons1der the entire Oi ty, lhld7 for
convenienoe part1~ar attentlon vll1 be glven as follows:
1. On November 22, the area east of Santa Anita AvelIlle and south of
Do.arte Road.
2. On l1Iovember 29, the area west of Santa Anita AvelIlle and south of
Huntington Place and Huntington Boulevard.
3. On Deoember 1, the area north of Duarte Road, east of Baldwin Avenue
and south of Foothill Boulevard, inoluding the north s1de of Foothill
Boulevard east of Santa Anlta Avenue.
4. On December 6, the area north of HUntington Drive and Vlest of BaldV1in
Avenue, including all the area north of Foothill Boulevard.

The above heari~s shall be oonduoted by the Planni~ Oommission with the
Chairman presiding. Mr. Whitnall shall be advised of the dates and be
requested to be ~resent in the oapaoity of an advisor. A speoial invitation
shall be extended to the City Counoil and all interested Department Heads
to attend eaoh of the hearings,
Motion by Mr. Sullivan, seoonded by Mr. Anderson and oarried that the
City Attorney draw the proper notioe of the above heari~s, and see that it
reoeives the proper publioation.
The Seoretary was instruoted to aoknowledBe reoeipt of all letters
pertaining to the new &oning ordinanoe, and direot the attention of the
applioant to the new ordinanoe and map.
There being no further business, the meeting adJourned.
