The City Planning Oommission met in rego.lar meeting with Chairman Pike
presiding.
PRESENT: Mr. Anderson, IngStad, Pike, Pippin, Shaw, Sullivan, Cornyn, Klomp
and Talley.
ABSDT: Mr. Minton and Watson.
Announoement was made of the reappointment of Mr. Pike as a member of
this Commission for a four year term effeotive December 7, 1948. Motion by
Mr. Sullivan, seoonded by Mr. Pippin and oarried that Mr. Pike be reeleoted
Chairman of the Commission for the coming year.
Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Ingstad and oarried that the minutes
of the meeting of November 4th be ~proved as written and mailed.
v The Oommittee appointed to investigate Tract No. 15703, looated at Sixth
Avenu.e and Longden Avenue, reoommended that 75 foot lots be required. Mr.
~nan, 1820 S. Seoond Avenue, requested that the street run north and s~th
to aid in the subdividing of the property located to the north. Motion by Mr.
Ander soh, seoonded l;ly Mr. Shaw and oarried that the matter be held in abeyanoe
pending a report from the City .Engineer.
I The Committee appointed to investigate the riding academy at 702 E. Long-
den Avenue submitted a verbal report. Three lette~s from neighboring property
owners protested against the granting of any extension of time. Motion by Mr.
Shaw, seoonded by J.{r. Ingstad and oarried that, 0.\1. aooount of the rundown oon-
dition of the buildings, and the unsanitary oondition of the premises, in the
opinion of the Commission the riding academy is 'a menace and inJurious to the
health and s~ety of the o ommunity , and the request for an extens:lon of the
variance is reoommended for denial.
L. E. Beauohqmp requested permission to use a portion of the CUr parkWay
for the parking of automobiles in front of a store building on the southeast
oorner of Golden \Vest Avenue and Duarte Road. This request was shown on a
sketch attaohed, and was supported by a letter from Williams Eleotrio Corp.
Motion by Mr. Shaw, seoondedby Mr. Anderson and carried that, in view of
establishing a preoedent of allowing City property to be put to private use,
the request be reoommended for denial.
v Final map of Traot No. 14940, looated on Colorado Street north of the
Turf Club, was mbmi tted by Rancho santa Anita for final approval. Motion by
J4r. Sullivan, seoonded by Mr. Ingstad and carried that final approval be
reoommended.
Mr. Davies verbally requested that lot 1 of the above Traot be placed in
Zone R-3. The proposed opening of Baldwin Avenue was aleo briefly disoussed.
Mr. E. C. Warren hrbally requested that property on the west llI1de of
Third Avenue between California street and the Santa Fe. Railway be plaoed in
Zone R-3.
Motion by A{r. Sullivan, seoonded by Mr. Ingstad and oarried, that in view
of the support and oooperation this Commission has i!eoeived from Councilman
Klomp, that the City Attorney be instruoted to draw a Reolution of Appreciation,
and that a copy of the Resolution be forwarded to the City Counoil.
Motion by Mr. Ingstad, seoonded by Mr. Pippin and oarried that the meeting
adjourn. '
After adjournment, oonsiderable time wacll devoted to the study of the pro-
posed new ~oning ordinanoe.
