minutes of the meeting of November lBth be approved as written and mailed.
~e Commission again oonsidered the tentative appr~al of fraot No.
15703, 10eated at SiXth Avenue and Longden Avenue. Communioation from
&!gineer \7atson relative to drainage was read. Hesars. Iqnan, Bvinger,
Harding, Ganther, Hsrshall and 13il1 ITill1ams spoke against approval of
the tt'aot in ita present form. Hotion by Yr. Shaw that as the above mzners
have done nothing to oonstruot their proposed traot to the north, and there
is no indioation of the two faotions getting together, the Oommissionrecom-
mend that Traot No. 15703 be Biven tentative approval as ~bmitted, sabJeot
to the granting of a drainage easemsnt as reoommended by the Oity ~ineer.
Said motion was seconded by Ur. Sullivan and oarried by the following vote:

sion, the business of self-servioe laundl'ies is no more obnoxious or detri-
mental to the partioular oommnn1ty than other eZlterpl'ises or businesses
allowed in Zone 0-1, and is reoommended for inclusion in said Zone 0-1.
Petition of John D. Myers and F. D. Myers reqllested a permanent exoep-
tion to the Zoning Ordinanoe to allow the oonstruction ~ single family
residenoes on building sites oontaining not less than 5,000 SqIlare feet on
lots 3 to 1B, ino1usive, of fraot No. 14172, located on Eighth Avenue south
of Horman Avenue. Hot ion by Mr. Ingstad, seoonded by Hr. Andel'son am

Harold J. Paoker, owner of property at the interseotion of Oolorado
BouleVard and Colorado Place, appeared before the Dommission and requested
a modifioation in the oonditions required by Ordinanoe No. 594 to allow the
elimination of the neoessity of o onstruoting. the restaurant and oooktail
lounge and to permit the modifica~ion of the style of arohiteoture of the
drive-in and motel from that shown on the sketch filed tilth the original
:petition :tor zone varianoe to that shown on the plans as now submitted.
Motion by Mr. Shaw, seoonded by Mr. lngstad and oarried that this Commission
recommend the above request for approval on the condition that oonstruction
of the drive-in be started Within three months aDd be oompleted \71th1n one
year.
Communioationfrom John and Peggy A. Oastle requested the el1m1Zlation
of the building setback l1Zle on Foothill Boulevard at Fifth Avenue.. The
matter ti8S ordered held until after the adoption of the new zoning ordinanoe.
Communioation from Frederio O. Schultze requested that ~Chi1drenrs
Hareery Schoolslt be listed as a permissible use in Zone R-3. Motion by Mr.
Sullivan, seoonded by LIr. Shat1 and carried that nursery schools not be listed
in the net? zoning ordinanoe, and that eaoh case be aoted on on its own merits
by ZOne varianoe.
Inoomplete petitions from Thomas Sherlook and David C. Hutohon request-
ing zone varianoes on Uoodruff Avenue were ordered filed.

all the members or the Oommission, and a copy ordered forwarded to the City
Counoil.
"At a regular meeting of the Planning Commission of the City of Aroadia
held on the 2nd day of Deoember, 1948, it was r~larly moved and seoonded
and oarried unanimously that the Commission reoord its unqualified approval
of the manner in Whioh City Oouncilman Peter A. Klomp has assumed and oarried
out his work as Oounoil representative at the meet1Jlgs of the Planning Com~
miss10n. His 1nterest and eooperat1on have been of invaluable assistanoe to
the Comm1ssion. The members of The Commission desire this expression of
gratitude and approval to be speaad upon the minutes of the Oommission and
a oopy of th1s Resolution to be transmitted to the Oity Oounoil."
