fhe City Planning Commission met in regular meeting with Chairman Pike
presiding.
PRESEN'f: Yr. Anderson, Ingstad, Pike, Pippin, Shaw, Sullivan, Cornyn, nomp,
Watson and Talley.
ABSENT: Mr. Minton.
Motion by Mr. Ingstad, seconded by Mr. Anderson and oarried that the
minu.tes of the meeting of December 16 be approved as written and mailed.
Pursuant to notioe given, a publio hearing was held on the petition of
M11lard F. Hartley, owner, and George A. Dudley, purohaser, requeeting a
permanent exeeption to the Zoning Ordinance to allow the oonstruotion and
operation of a steam laundry on lots 32, 33 and 34, Blook 76, Santa Anita
Traot, looated at the southeast oorner of Santa Anita Avenu.e and Santa Clara
Street. No protests were registe;l."ed. Motion by Mr. Sh~w, seoonded by Mr.
Anderson and carried unanimoudy b,y roll oall vote that the petition be
reoommended for apProval upon the oondition that the improvements be 00.11-
structed substantially in accordanoe with the plans attached, and that con-
struotion begin within 3 months and be oompleted w~thiri one year atter the
effectiv6 date of any ordinanoe granting the variance.
Osoar H. and Mamie B. Lide, 405 W. Walnut Avenue, requested permission
to divide their lot and sell a portion 50 feet by 173.56 feet. Tae Chairman
appointed Mr. Anderson and Mr. rngstad as a oommittee to inspect the lot
and report back at the next meeting.
The Regional Planning Commission submitted tentative maps of Traots
13978 and 15798 located southeast of Aroadia in County territory, for
recommendation. The Seoretar,y was instructed to advise that each tract was
below the requirements of the City, and was not recommended.

by roll oall vote that the Seoretary inform ths Oity Counoil that when the
proposed new zoning ordinance has been acted upon by the City Counoi1 that
the Planning Oommission will have no further need for Mr. Whitna1l's serv-
ices in oonneotion with any further studies
Motion by Mr. Shaw, ssconded by Mr. Sullivan and unanimouely oarried
that the Seoretary inform Mr. Whitnall that this Commission will not require
his services any further in oonneotion with the proposed master plan of
streets, or the off street parking program, but will expeot him to oontinu.e
with the Oity until the new zoning ordinanoe has been aoted upon by the City
Council.
Motion by Mr. Sullivan, seconded by Mr. Anderson and unanimously
oarried by roll call vote, that after having held four pub~ic hearings on
the proposed new zoning ordinance, and having given oarefu1 study and con-
sideration to all obJeotions and protests, and having made certain changes
in the zoning map, that this Commission consider the matter completed, and
transmit the proposed ordinance and the acoompanying map, together with a
final report thereott, to the City Counoil with a recommendation for adoption.
Motion by Mr. Sh~w, seoonded by Mr. Pippin and oarried that the meeting
adjourn.
