The City Planning Oommission met in regular meeting with Chairman Pike presiding. PRESDT: Mr. Anderson, Ingstad, .Pike, Shaw, Sullivan, Corllyn, lO.omp, Watson and Talley. ABSENT: Mr. Pippin and Stoner. Motion by Mr. Ingstad, seoonded by!lIr. Shaw and carried that the minutes of the meeting of January 20th be approved as written and mailed. Communioation from the City Olerk advised of the resignation of Mr. Minton and the apPointment of Mr. Dwight Stoner to fill the unexpired term. In the matter of the petition of Paul L. Scott and others for a zone variance to allow a contraotor's yard on Mayflower Avenue, Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Shaw reported that the conditions were as set out in the petition, that the yard was used tor oonstruction in territory outside the City of Aroadia, and that in their opinion the property of Mrs. Graoe was directly damSBed. Motion by Mr. Sullivan that the petition be recommended for denial. Said motion w.s seconde~ by Mr. Ingstad and carried by the following vote: AYES: Mr. Anderson, Ingstad, Pike, Shaw and Sullivan. NOES: None ABSENT: Mr. Pippin and Stoner. Err. Anderson and Mr. Ingstad reported on the request of W. W. Fisoher to divide lot 18, fract Ho. 12718, on Norman Avenue. It was their opinion that such a division would not harmonize with the surrounding lots. Motion by Mr. Sullivan, seconded by Mr. Shaw and carried that the request be reoom- mended for denial. Request of Grover W. Humes, 150 E. Duarte Road, and Fred G. Albert, 429 Lemon Avenue, to divide their lots was referred to Il'r. .Ingstad and Mr. Anderson to investigate. Request of W. L. Orsburn, 402 Lemon Avenue, and Alfred Grimble, 1511 S. Tenth Avenue, to divide their lots was referred to Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Shaw to investigate. ./ Petition of Winohester Cooley and Hattie C. Iler requested annexation to the City of Arcadia of certain property located at the southwest oorner of Baldwin Avenue and Naomi Avenue. The petitioners were represented by Attorney James C. Bone. Motion by Mr. Shaw that the petition be recommended for approval, SUbJect to the petitioners submitting a letter to the City Council agreeing to the following oonditions: 1. Establishment of a ao foot setbaok line on Baldwin Avenue. v' 2. Bstablishment of a 10 foot setvack line on Naomi Avenue. 3. Removal of the existing building within a reasonable time, preferred by the Oommission to be set at 6 months if oonsistant \Yith present leases. 4. That a substantial part of the west parcel be zoned for parking only. Said motion was seoonded by Mr. Ingstad and carried by the follOWing vote: A!ES: Mr. Anderson, Ingstad, Pike, Shaw and Sullivan. NOES: Iblne. ABSENT: Mr. Pippin and Stoner. At this time, 8:45 P. M., Mr. Stoner entered the room and took his seat as 8 oommissioner. . .. . . Mrs. Hortense Seymour, publicity chairman of the Ohamber of Oommerce, addressed the Oommission relative to planting of trees around the new Oity Hall. She was informed that this matter was being handled by the City Oounail. Communiaation from Mrs. Hazel H. Gruwell, secretary of the Arcadia Community Coordinating Council regarding churches was ordered filed. Communioation from Shatford and Shatford, attorneys for Del Hungerford, requested permission for him to operate a ohildren's amusement park on the north side of Huntington Drive west of Fifth Avenue, in Zones C-2 and M-l. Motion by Mr. Shaw that in the opinion of the Commission, this development would not be to the best interests of the City, and the request is reoommend- ed for denial. Said motion was seconded by Mr. Anderson and aarried by the following vote: AYES: lItr. Anderson, Ingstad, Pike, Shaw, Stoner and Sullivan. BOES: None. ABSENT: Mr. Pippin. ~he Oommission approved the aotion of the Secretary in protesting the proposed Tract No. 15797 in County territory on Golden West Avenue. Mr. James R. Hill and R. E. Hardy addressed the Commission relative to the possibility of annexing to Arcadia the territory laying east and south of the Oity. The matter was held for further investigation.
