The City Planning Commission met in regular meeting with Chair~
man Pike presiding.
PRESENT: Mr. Andsrson, Ingstad, Pike, Shaw, Stoner, Sullivan.
Cornyn, Klomp, and Talley
ABSENT: Mr. Pippin and Watson.
Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried that
the minutes of the meeting of March 17th be approved as written and
mailed.
Petition of Joseph Saylin requested a 1'one variance to allow the
construction of a professional and business office building on Lot 29,
Tract No. 63~1, located at Foothill Boulevard and Valencia Way. Motion
by Mr. Sullivan, seconded by Mr. Stoner and carried that the petition be
recommended for approval, provided the building be made to comply with
the regulations of Fire Zone No.1.
Communication from J. P. Ravelle, 12 E. Floral Avenue, requested
that bis lot, being lot 39, Tract No. 7820, be placed in Zone R-l in
the new zoning ordinance, instead of the present Zone R-3. Motion by
Mr. Ingstad, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried that the above lot
be placed in Zone R-l in the new zoning ordinance.
Communication from G. W. Auten, 1523 S. Holly Avenue, requested
permission tobulld on a lot 62.08 feet by 131.41 feet. Another
communication i'rom Vern Vogel, ~OO W. Camino Real, requested permission
to divide and sell a lot 60 feet by 131.41 feet, located at 1515 Holly
Avenue. Mr. Ingstad and Mr. Anderson reported that the building
program was started on these two lots previous to the ordinance
requiring 75 feet, and that in their opinion it would be to the best
interests of the community to grant the re,quests. Motion by Mr. Ingstad
that these two requests be recommended for approval. Said motion was
seconded by Mr. Ap.derson and ,carried by the following vote:
AYES: Mr. Anderson, Ingstad, Pike, Shaw, Stoner and Sullivan
NOES: None
ABSENT: Mr. Pippin.
Final map of proposed Tract No. 15582, located on La Sierra Drive
at Santa Anita Avenue, was presented for approval. Motion by Mr. Shaw
seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried that final approval be recommended.
Tentative map of proposed Tract No. 15979, located on Columbia
Road south of Hugo Reid Drive, was presented for approval. Motion by
Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Stoner and carried that tentative approval
be recommended.
Tentative map of proposed Tract No. 15960, located on Altura Road,
was submitted for approval.. Also a supplementary map showing a proposed
subdivision of this Tract and a portion of City property. With the
consent of Warren E. Fox. owner, consideration of this Tract was post-
poned for 30 days. Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Ingstad and carried
that the Secretary submit the supplementary map to the City Council stating
that the Planning Commission endorses such a plan and recommends favorable
consideration.

Tentative map of proposed Tract No. 15987, located at Live Oak
Avenue and Tyler Avenue, in County territory, waS submitted by the
Regional Planning Commission for recommendation. Motion by Mr.
Anderson, seconded by Mr. Ingstad and carried that the Tract be
recommended for denial on the ground that it is not a desirable use of the
land, and that this Commission recommends a joint meeting with the Regional
Planning Commission to consider County zoning of property surrounding
Arcadia.
Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Anderson and carried that this
Commission submit a tentative report to the City Council recommending
that the area located at the southwest corner of Baldwin Avenue and
Naomi Avenue now being annexed to the City of Arcadia, be made a part
of Zone C-2 and recommending that a pUblic hearing on the matter be set
for May 5, 1949, at 8:00 P.M.
Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Sullivan and carried that the
Secretary compile a list of all applications for division of' lots since
the effective date of Ordinance No. 742, and that they all be reviewed
by this Commission at the next meeting.
On account of urgent business matters, Mr. Pippin requested that
he be grant~ a leave of absenCe for )0 days. Motion by Mr. Sullivan,
seconded by Mr. Shaw and carried that the request be recommended for
appro val .
Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by Mr. Ingstad and carried that the
meeting adjourn.
