Council Chamber, City Hall, Arcadia, Calif.
April 21, 1949, 8:00 P.M.
The City Planning Commission met in regular meeting with Chairman
Pike presiding.
PRESENT: Mr. Anderson, Ingstad, Pike, Shaw, Stoner, Sullivan,
Cornyn, Klomp and Talley.
ABSENT: Mr. Pippin and Watson.
Motion by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Mr. Shaw and carried that the
minutes of the meeting of April 7th be approved as written and mailed.
Revised final map of proposed Tract No. 14940, located on Colorado
Street north of the Turf Club, was presented for final approval. This
map deleted Stanford Road at the west end of the Tract, which area is
to be acquired by Los Angeles County. Motion by Mr. Shaw, seconded by
Mr. Ingstad and carried that f'inal approval be recommended, subject to
the following conditions:
1. Rancho Santa Anita to grant the necessary easements f'or water
lines over lots 16, 53 and 54.
2. Assurance that Oxford Drive and Cambridge Drive will have access
to the new proposed Baldwin Avenue.
3. Approval of the Water Department.
Communication from Wayne Allen, Chief Administrative Off'icer of Los
Angeles county, submitted for approval a map showing the proposed acqui-
sition of property for an esplanade and entrance to the Arboretum, and
also for the opening of Baldwin Avenue from Huntington Drive to Colorado
Street. Motion by Mr. Sullivan, seconded by Mr. Shaw and carried that
the above acquisition be approved, subject to the f'ollowing conditions:
1. That the paved portion of the above property become a part of'
the Arcadia City Street System.
2. That the planted areas be maintained by Los Angeles County.
3. That Oxford Drive and Cambridge Drive in proposed Tract No.
14940 be given access to the new Baldwin Avenue.
4. It is the understanding of this Commission that Rancho Santa
Anita has agreed to dedicate for street purposes a strip 40 f'eet wide
from Huntington Drive northerly to the Arboretum.
Communication from the Regional Planning Commission submitted for
recommendation proposed Amendment .No. 126 to the Master Plan of Highways,
showing the relocation of proposed Baldwin Avenue by reason of the above
mentioned acquisition of property. Motion by Mr. Ingstad, seconded by
Mr. Shaw and carried that the proposed amendment be recommended f'or approval.
Tentative map of' proposed Tract No. 15737, located on the west side of
Mayf'lower Ave. near the southerly City boundary, was submitted for consider-
ation. As this tract is partly within the City and partly within the County,
the Regional Planning Commission also submitted it for recommendation. As
the map showed lots 65 feet wide, motion was made by Mr. Shaw, seconded by
Mr. Anderson and carried that action be def'erred until May 5th for in-
vestigation.
Notice f'rom the Anaheim Chamber of' Commerce advised of their third
annual "Community Planning Da~' to be observed on April 28th. The Chair-
man urged all members who could to attend this meeting.
Motion by Mr. Sullivan, seconded by Mr. Shaw and carried that the meet-
ing adjourn.
