The City Planning Commission met in regular meeting with Mr. Anderson
presiding as Chairman pro-tam.
PRESENT:

Mr. Anderson, Davis, Robertson, Smith, Stoner and Talley
Mr. Pippin, Cornyn, Klomp and Watson.
Two corrections in the minutes of the meeting of October 6th were
ordered. In the application of Rancho Santa Anita for zone variance, the
reoommendation that no intoxicating liquors be served is to be added. In
the application of Ross Himes for zone variance, the word amorea is to be
stricken. With thsse corrections, motion was made by Mr. Stoner, seconded
by Mr. Robertson and carried that the minutes of the meeting of October 6
and the special meeting of October 11 be approved as written and ma1led.
Mr. Robertson and Mr. Stoner reported on the application of Harry
Norris to divide a lot at 127 E. Camino Real. Most of the lots in that
area are over 90 feet wide. Mr. Norris' house is centrally located on his
lot, but to conf'orm to other lots, the house should be shifted, and the lot
divided into two instead of three paroels. Motion by Mr. Robertson,
seoonded by Mr. Stoner and carried that the request be recommended for
denial.
Mr. Davis and Mr. Anderson reported on the request of S. Earl Austin
to build a second dwelling on a lot at 602 Naomi Avenue. This lot contains
14678 square feet, and now has a chicken house on the rear. It was their
opinion that another dwelling would be an improvement to the neighborhood.
Motion by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. stoner and carried that the request
be recommended for approval.
The request of Nora Olson to divide approximately 66 feet from her
lot at 723 E. Camino Real was referred to Mr. Smith to investigate.
Celeste Construction Co. requested permission to build a house on a
lot 70 feet by 108 feet at the northeast corner of Second Avenue and
Camino Real. As the lot contains the necessary area, and no more frontage
can be secured, motion was made by Mr. Stoner, seconded by Mr. Davis and
carried that the request be recommended for approval.
The request of Los Angeles Development Co. to construct two houses
on Mayflower Avenue on 60 foot lots was referred to Mr. Robertson to
investigate. The Company filed a map of the area, showing the proposed
lots.
The application of Paul Burkholder to add to the building at the south-
west corner of Duarte Road and Baldwin Avenue was discussed. As the City
Attorney has been busy with other matters, and this Commission has not had
the benefit of his advise, motion was made by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr.
Stoner and carried that any action be deferred until consultation has been
had with the Attorney.
The matter of the opening of Seventh Avenue was discussed. Various
letters and petitions were read. Sixteen owners spoke in favor of the
opening, and 12 owners opposed it. The matter stood as 62.4% in favor and
3b.4% opposed. Motion by Mr. Stoner that this Commission recommend to the
City Council that necessary proceedings be taken to open the street, and
that existing lots less than 75 feet wide be approved as building sites.
Said motion was seconded by Mr. Smith and carried by the following vote:
AYES: Mr. Anderson, Davis, Smith and Stoner.
NOES: Mr. Robertson
ABSENT: Mr. Pippin

was discussed. Motion by Mr. Stoner, seconded by Mr. Robertson and carried
that the reqQest be denied, and that a resolution be so drawn.
Final map of proposed Tract No. 13534, loca.ted on Longden Avenue west
of the Santa Anita flash was presented. Motion by Mr. Robertson, seconded by
Mr. Stoner and carried that final approval be recommended.
Revised tentative map of proposed Tract No. 15703. located at the
northwest corner of Sixth Avenue and Longden Avenue was presented. Motion
by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Stoner and carried that tentative appro~l be
recommended, subject to the City Engineer approving the drainage of the
tract.
Tentative map of proposed Tract No. 11092 located in County territory
at Naomi Avenue and Rosemead was recommended for denial, because it does
not conf'orm to Aroadia requirements.
Recommendation of the Street Superintendent that residents living on
Paloma Drive west of Golden West Avenue be allowed to plant evergreen ash
trees at their own expense was approved.
The Chairman pro-tem appointed Mr. Davis. Robertson and Smith to act
as a Resolutions Committee.
Motion by Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Stoner and carried that the
meeting adj ourn.
