'!'he City Planning Commission met in regular meeting with Mr.
Anderson presiding as chairman pro~tem.
PRESENT:

Pursuant to notice given, a. public hearing was held on the matter
of rezoning the nOI'th side of La Porte Street, between Santa Anita Avenue
and First Avenue, from Zone C-2 to Zone R~3. J. M. Jessen, owner of
property on St. Joseph Street... objected on the ground that such change
would lower the value of his property. E. T. Caufield, John Howard,
Mrs. Schneider, Mrs. Hayden and Mrs. Ellis spoke in favor of the change.
The matter was taken under advisement and the Chairman announced that a
decision would be given at a future meeting.
Mr. Stoner, seconded by Mr. Robertson and carried that

Pursuant to notice given, a :!lUblic hearing was held on the application
of Hygiene Products Company for a zone variance to allow lot 29, Tract No.
6860, located at 4-9 N. Third Avenue" to be Wled as a driveway for accees
to Zone M-l property to the west. M. C. Nottingham spoke in favor of tl1.e
varianc.e. Protest petition signed by 12 property owners on N. Third
Avenue was filed. Attorney Ardene Boller represented the protestants.
J. T. O'Leary, Ed Wright, Mrs. J. W. C1ar!{, Mrs. Laurence Way, Mrs.
Shaul and Mre. Merion spoke against the variance. ~he matter was taken
under advisement and Mr. Knuteon and Mr. Smith named as a committee to
investigate andreporu back at a f\.l,ture meeting.
In the matter ot the proposed change of name of Sunset BOUlevard,
no one present was interested, and the matter was tabled.
Edgar B. Robinson requested that the north 52 feet of lot 2 and all
of lot 3, Block 68t,Tr~act No. ebb, located on Santa Anita Avenue north
J of Genoa Street, be rezoned, from Zone C-2 to Zone 11-3 to allow the erection
of a 12 unit apart~ntbuilding+ 'Motien by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr.
Stoner and carried that the request be reeolllmeooed f'or approval.
Hesolution No. 16, recommend1,ng .the 3ranting of the application of
the Roman 'CatholicAl'clJ,b,"shop f'or a zone varlanca to allow the erection
of' a convent at :330 W. Huntington Plaoe, was read. Motion by Mr. Robertson
that Resolution No. 16 be adopted. Said mouion.was seconded by Mr. Smith
and carried by the. :folloWing vote:

rlevised tentative map of Tract No. 1.4665. located on Fourth Avenue
north of Longden Avenue. was considered. Motion by Mr. Smith that the
revised map be recommended for approval, subject to the following oon-
ditions:
1. Tl::1at the City of Arcadia take immediate steps to acquire the
96.78 foot lot on ,the north ai.de of Longden Avenue end south of that
parcel marked II Fut ure Street" on the map.
2. Tbat the parcel marked "Future Street" be moved east to coincide
with the east line of the 96.78 foot 10t4
3. Tbat the parcel marked IIFuture Street n be dedicated and improved
as a street.
4. Tl::1at the parcel marked IJB" Stre-etJ6 eliminated and the land be
divided among the lots.
5. That a 10 foot buildigg line be established along the west lines
of lots 6, 7. 18, 19, 30 and 36 to provide for future Third AvenUe.
6, Subject to the approval of the City Engineer as to drainage.
The above motion was seconded by Mr. Stoner and carried by the
following vote:
AYES: Mr. Anderson. Davis, Knutson, Robertson, Smith and stoner.

The unnumbered tract located on Seventh Avenue north of Longden
Avenue was discussed. Mr. Northrup represented the subdivider. 60 foot
lots as shown on the map were not favored. The Commission reoommended
that a new s~udy and map of the tract be submitted.
