The City Planning Commission met in regular meeting with Chairman
Anderson presiding.
PHESENT: Mr. Anderson, Knutson, RObertson, Smith, V/eickert, Cornyn,
Klomp, Watson. and Talley,
AaSEN'l': Mr. Davis.
Motion by Mr. Knutson, seconded by Mr. Robertson and carried that the
minutes of the meeting of i4arch 2nd be approved as written and mailed.
Mr, Smith and Mr. Robertson reported on the re~est of Vern Vo&el,
400 W. Camino Real, to cut 6.41 feet from his corner lot and add it to the
lot to the west. Motion by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr, Robertson and carried
that the I'equest be I'ecommended far> appI'oval.
Mr, Knutson and Mr. Weiokert reported on the request of Silvio Osti to
divide his 140 foot lot on Santa Anita Avenue south o:f Longden Avenue.
Motion by Mr. Knutson, seconded by itr. Weickert and carried that the matter
be he Id pending a hearing on the opening of a street through this 100 8tio11.
The request of W. T, Graves to divide and build on his lot at 414 S.
Tlrlrd Avenue was held until later in the meeting.
The Arcadia Oity School District requested permission to construct :four
temporary school bu1ldin~s on the site at 300 Woodruff Avenue. Motion by
Mr. Robertson, seClonded by Mr. Smith and unanimously carried by roll call
vote that the I' equest be reoommendeii ror appro val.
The Arcadia City School District advised of the contemplated purchase
of a school site between Sixth Avenue and Eighth Avenue, north of Camino
Real. Mrs. Deutsch, 1311 Eighth Avenue, one of the property owners
involved, favored the proposal. Motion Qy Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Robert-
son and carr:l.ed tht.t :If the property is acquired, this Commission will look
with favor on rezoning it for school use.
Carl ~, Anderson requested permission to divide the property at the
southeast corner of Sixth Avenue and Longden Avenue into four lots, three
facing Sixth Avenue and one facinG Longden Avenue. Motion by Mr. Knutson,
seconded by ~r. Weickert and carried that the request be recommended for
ll:>proval, but that the owner be requested to consider the advisability or
dividing i~to three lots instead of four.
Walter Lockwood, 44 E, LonGden Avenue, requested permiSSion to divide
a lot 65 reet by 200 feet off his property. The matter was ref'erred to Mr.
SllU th and Mr. Knutson to investigate and report.
Alfred Allen submitted tentative map of Tract No, 16592, north of Palm
Drive. The subdivision committee recommended a street to the east near the
north line of the tract. Mr. Allen stated that by making 70 foot lots; the
same number of lots could be obtained, but that it would add about ;}1500 to
the cost of tbe street work. Motio~ by Mr. Smith, seconded by Mr. Anderson
and carried that tentative a!) pro v a.l of the tract be recommended, subjeot to
the f0110win~ conditions:
1. The rebular lots to be made 70 foot frontage.
2. Dedication ot a street to the east, approXimately on the north lina
of Lot 7.
3. If at the hearinB on April 6th there anpears no probability of a
street thro"lgh to Santa Anit&. Avenue, then the tract will be
approved as submitted.

and carried that as street widths and lot sizes do not meet Arae-dia

36-T-'6, showin€, land flroposed to be acquired for the construction of spNad-
ine groullds and debris basin in $gnta Anita Canyon. Motion b~ Mr. Smith,
seconded by ~~. Robertson and carried that the acquisition be recommended
for appro val.
A proposed ordin!lnoe regulating the subdividing of parcol!l of land into
four or less lots was considered. Motion by wI'. smith, seconded by Mr.
Weickert and unanimously carried by roll call that adoption of the ordinanCe
be l'ec'OlllIllended.
A ~roposed amendment to the ZonlnB Ordinance regulati~G tl~ lot are~ ner
fanily il1. Zone R-2 was considered. ~[otlon by Mr. Ro~ertson, seconded by Mr.
Anderson and unanimously carried by roll call that tne adoption of the
amendment be recommended.
In ~ew of the above recommended amendment to the loning Ordinance,
motion WQS made by mI'. Smith, seconded by ~w, Weickert and car~ied that the
re'luest <)f Ii, T. Craves to build on and divide his lot at 414 8. Third
Avenue be recommended for approval because it conforms with tl~ proposed
amendment.
~he Secretary notified the Commission of the filing of a petition of
Lloyd E. Jo:ass for a Zone vlil'iance to allow manufacture of brushes at 114
st. Joseph Strest, and of Arcadia Sports Center for a children's amusement
center on HuntinGton Drive. Both varianc~ applications hav~ been set for
hearing on April 6th.
'fhe Set:l?stary was instI'1.tcted to notify property owners of a public
hearing on the advisability of opening a street west from Santa Anita
Avenue and located between Palm Drive and Lonzden Avenue, Said hearing
to be held on April 6th, at 8:00 P. M.

meeting adjourn.
