PRESEl1<lT: Mr. Anderson, Bel'ky, Knutson, Robertson, 1jfeiclcert, Cornyn, Klomp and Talley. ABSENT: Mr. Smi tho The minutes of the mee~ing of J~y 4th were ordered approved as written and mailed. Pursuant to notioe, a seoond publio hearing was held on the appli- oation of property owners to cbange the zone of Fairview Avenue west of S\Ulset Blvd. ~rom Zone R-l to Zone R-~. No opposition was registered. The. matter was talcen under oonsideration I'or a dsoision at a future meeting. The application of Aroadia Spor~s Genter tor a zone varianoe to allow a children's playground was oonsidered. ~Iritten protests from HOlly Avenue P.T.A., Boly,Angels P.T.A., r~noho ~nta Anita Residents Assn. and the Los Angeles Turf Club were read. tTumerous oral protests were heard. Motion by Mr. Robertson, seoonded by Mr. Weickert and unanimously oarried by roll call vote that the applioation be recommended for denial. Petition from property o\vners on Naomi Avenue west of Lovell Avenue requested the Commission to appoint a disinterested individual or oommittee to study the matter of rezonin8 Naomi Avenue. In view of the Commission's expectation of having the services of a consultant, the matter was held for study, and the petition ordered filed. Application of John W. Willott to divide property at the northwest oorner of Santa Anita Avenue and IJagna Vista Avenue was held for further study. I The request of James H. B. Evinger to divide property at the east end of Danimere Avenue was again considered. The Commission definitely opposed lots fronting on a priv.ate street'. r.Totion by l,fr. ;./eickert, seconded by ~. Knutson and carried that permission be granted to divide paroels 1 and 2, each being 69 feet frontage, provided J)e.nimere Avenue be dedioated 135.92 fe.et eastet'ly. Tentative map of Tract No. 16947, looated at the north end of Green- field Avenue was considered. !.lotion by !\ir. Knutson, seoonded by Mr. Weinkert and carried that tentative approval be reco'llllllended,subjeot to the removal of the existing oul-de-sac at the present north end of Green- field Avenue, and the reoonstruotion of all the improvements in that portion of the street. Tentative map of Tract No. 16872, located along First Avenue south of Camino Real, was oonsidered. Letter from the ~huroh of the Transfigur- ation recommended favorable action. Motion by Mr. Weickert, seoonded by ~w. Knutson and oarried that tentative approval be recommended, subject to the follOWing oonditions: 1. That lot 58 be made at least 60 feet wide at the building line. 2. That First Avenue be improved to meet the improvement in Las Flores Avenue. J Tentative map of Tracts lw. 16920 and 15709, located in the Highlands, was considered. Motion by ~~. Knutson, seoonded by lIr. Anderson and carried that Tract No. 16920 be recommended for approval and that Tract ~o. 15709 be held for further study, and that the City Attorney negotiate . . , for the City Eound8.ry change requested. Motion by Mr. Robertson, seconded by Mr. Vteickert and carried that the posting of notioes of zone variances and zone cl~nbes be waived on future applications. Applications from Mrs. ClaraS. Berkner, 807 Arcadia Avenue, and Thomas J. m~ite, 440 l'1. Lemon Avenue, for permission to divide lots were referred to fi~. Berky and Mr. Weickert to investigate and report. Letter from Hoag and 1~ck, attorneys for Yw. Himes, suggested a oertain oompromise in the matter of the case of Himes vs. City of Arcadia. ~otion by l~. Anderson, seconded by ~w. Robertson and unanimously oarried by roll call vote, that this Commission reoommend to the City Council that any further oonsideration of any rezoning of this property must come before the Commission in the form of a regular petition. Tentative map of Tract No. 16897, located on Golden West Avenue between Naomi and Camino Real, in County territory, v~s considered. The Secretary was instructed to return the matter to the County, stating that that territory is under ~onsideratlon for annexation to the City of Arcadia, and recommending that no action be taken until the matter of annexation is decided. The Commission requested the City Attorney to draft a recommendation to the State Legislature that the Subdivision Nap Act be amended to allow more authority to City Planning Commissions regarding subdivision of County lands near the boundaries of Cities. Tentative map of Tract No. 16849, located east of Tyler Avenue and south of the Rio Hondo, in County territory was considered. The Secretary was instructed to recommend denial of the Tract, beoause it does not meet the City standards. The Secretary informed the Commission that he had approved the applioations of W. E. Gamble, 428 U. Norman Avenue and Domenick Genovese, 1014 S. Tenth Avenue, for division of lots. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. 7'\", ~~ J.,.t.l. 'raIley, ere ary --
