The City Planning Commission met in regular meeting with Chairman Anderson presiding. PR~SEHT: Mr. Anderson, Berky, Robertson, Sorenson, ~eickert, Klomp, Newell, Ross and Talley. ABSENT: Mr. Knutson and [.II'. Smith. The minutes of the meeting of July 20th were ordered approved as written and mailed. Plwsuant to notice given, a public hearing was held on the appli- cation 01' B. \'1. l"airchild, 1824 S. Santa Anita Avenue, for a zone variance to allow a portion of lot 33, Arcadia Acreage Tract, to be used for churCh pur..'oses, by the Church of the Transfic;uration. Petition,si~ned by surrounding property owners favoring tae variance, was read. No protest was registered. Motion by ],11'. Hobertson, seconded by illr. Berky and carried that a resolution recommending the [;ranting of tho variance be drawn. l I , \ / I Pursuant to notice given, a public hearin2 WuS held on the appli- cation of Dorothy LoGiudice, 530 ~. Las Tunas Drive, for a zone variance to allow lot 28, Tract No. 6'341, to be used for the conduct of a childrons day nursery. Petition favorinG the variance, bearing 12 si~latures, was read. Pursuant to notice given, the first of two public hearings was held on the application of R. C. Ellis for a chUDEe of zone froQ Zone R-l to Zone R-3 on the northerly portion of lot 4, Block 89, Santa AnitR Tract, located at the northeast corner of Colorado Doulevard and Lorena Avenue. T. ll. Holden, owner of property to the east, requested that the lots facin~ Colorado Boulevard be made 150 feet deep instead. of 170 feet. ~lrs. :Jilliard, owner of property to the north requested thRt her pro,~rty Qe included in t1:.o pst2-tion. Sorenson, seconded by ~r.Weickert and carried that the request be eranted as per the applicat~0n, to be effective when the applicant has J?ll.rchased 13 feet to the south, as outlined in the applicstion. y . . ,/ 1,;1'. Weickert reported on the a:>plication of Arthur C. Baker, 530 Palm Drive for a division of his lot. He reported that a 60 foot lot was easil;1' available. Motion by 1.1r. ';ieickert, seconded by r.:r. Sorenson and carried that the apj:.l1cant be granted permission to divide a 60 foot lot, instead of 55 feet as requested. Tbe application of E. C. 'rhe application of H. H. \"/alker, 1531 So. Fourth Avenue, to divide a lot was considered. In view of the location of existing improvements and driveway motion was made by 1~. TIeickert, seconded by tw. Sorenson and carried that percission be ;:;ranted to divide a 60 foot lot instead of 55 feet as requested. Mr. Berky reported on the application of Nora S. Olson, 723 E. Camino "leal, to divide a lot. In his opinion, a sr.:lall buildinG located near the center of the lot was not worth savin6. j'Jotion by ],Jr. Berky, seconded by Mr. Sorenson and carried that permission be granted to divide the lot, provided it is divided equally, makinc tr/o lots each 73.48 feet .frontage. The application of raul B. CE'.1er, 753 Ii. Duarte Roed, tOI' a change of setback was considered. In order to make a new building line Uj; with the existing buildings, motion was made by ~~. Robertson, seconded by ~r. Sorenson and carried that this Commission recommend a chanee of setback from 50 feet to 40 feet on the east 42 feet of lot 126, Tract No. 2731. Revised tentative map of Tract No. 16872, located on First ,.venue south of Camino Real was considered. Mrs. Lancaster, an adjacent property ol'/ner, inspected the map. Norman A.. Greve spoke in favor of the subdivision. The map was referred to the subdivision committee for recornnendation. Applications for division of lots were referred as follows: t/al tel' Locb/ood, 44 E. Longden ..venue to f'lr. Robertson and \!eickert. J. J. Truttman, 510 ,I. Palm Drive to Mr. .3erky and Sorenson. Herschel K. Sargett, 383 Naomi Avenue to l~. Sorenson and ft~derson. l.lrs. Ellen f,l. i.,organ protested the former liienial of her application to divide lots on Live 0t11, Avenue. She was advised th~t the only way to reopen the case would be to file a new a9plication.
